Korean actress Jung Si Yeon has been gaining much attention for having passed the 3rd phase auditions to be a part of the popular Japanese girl group, SDN48.
SDN48 is said to be a sister group of AKB48 and the actress has walked the runway earlier this year for Gobe Collection and Tokyo Girls’ Collection, having debuted in Korea last year.
A representative for office48Korea stated, “It’s very exciting that Jung Si Yeon became the first Korean to be a part of SDN48, and this shows SDN48’s intent to advance into the Korean industry. This is only the beginning, Jung Si Yeon will have to keep working hard to be chosen as the best member in SDN48. And I think this is exciting, tbh. SDN48 had this theme going on in the first place. Adding Korean to their lyrics, releasing their stuff in Korea, etc. So having a Korean member will help even more with their concept.
I'm just annoyed by all the K-pop stans bashing on her for joining a J-pop group. Or at all the J-pop stans telling her to go back to Korea, etc. I seriously had no idea that your ethnicity could affect your talents.
