IU voted as likely winner of "Immortal Song 2"

We recently reported that 2PM's Junsu is likely to join KBS's upcoming show "Immortal Song 2," the idol version of "I am a Singer" which will begin airing on June 4. Additionally, the press conference, in which the cast gathered together and expressed their opinions about appearing on the show, was just held on May 16.

A lot of attention has been directed toward the currently confirmed cast. From May 16 until May 22, smartphone portal Jisiklog held a poll asking users to vote for who they think will perform the best on "Immortal Song 2."

Among 1,913 poll voters, IU reached first place with 41% of the total votes. Following behind her were 2AM's Changmin with 18%, SHINee's Jonghyun with 17%, as well as Sistar's Hyorin, BEAST's Yoseob, and Super Junior's Yesung who all received 8% of the votes.

For the question in the poll that asked which artist will perform the best cover of Shim Subong's songs, IU came out on top again with 37% of the votes; Hyorin came in second with 20%. Lastly, as "Immortal Song 2" is the idol version of "I am a Singer," the third question asked which artist would likely be able to appear immediately on "I am a Singer." IU came out on top for a third time with 43% of the votes, demonstrating her immense popularity and potential on the show.

Since people are wondering about ~unpleasant~ things regarding this show...

I read a fan account which was pretty upset with the show's structure, more than anything.
It seems the structure was changed last-minute to give more of a tournament/battle atmosphere and pit the singers against each other in more of a one-on-one style. Obv this would create more ~tension and excitement~ for viewers.
But it seems like being judged this way made some of the contestants (okay, Jjong :|) a little emotional (okay, apparently he cried :|).

But, idk. That's just one fan account so who knows how accurate or biased it is.

Interested to hear what others have read about it.

Lately IU's getting more attention than she deserves I think. Her voice is good yes, but so is everyone who is going to be on the show, some of them better than hers. I've seen her perform live and she sounds good but I feel like there is something missing.

I heard a recording of Jonghyun singing on the show and he did pretty bad :/
But wow, how did Yesung end up so low? Usually ELFs are all over such polls. In my opinion, none of the vocals listed are amongst my favourites. Jonghyun can be good, but he's been trying too hard lately. Hyorin is damn good, but the sound of her voice doesn't appeal to me much. I think I would root for Changmin personally imo.

also could I just mention that popular =/= overrated. IU debuted in 2008 at the age of 15 and has only started getting this amount of attention after her promotions for Good Day. It's not like she is Korea's ~*favorite dongsaeng*~ after debuting for three months, it's been three years. Let the girl have her 15 minutes of fame.

not really. I mean, I love Yoseob and Yesung and idc who wins in this show but I still think IU's a bit overrated. She's got a nice voice, a great range and I think she plays the guitar pretty damn well but idt she's as amazing as a lot of people has said she is. I find her voice annoying at times. idk, I think it's too thin for my taste? It's just my opinion tho, I can't speak for other people.

I think Jonghyun can do better (not biased XD). IU's voice only suits ballad, a singer needs to do well in a wide range of genre right?
