Son Papa drops some wisdom on us once again

BEAST fan cafe?
Anyways I stopped by for a while and there was a picture of my son so I took it. ^^

The word is that BEAST's first official album is coming out soon right?
Also hearing that they are filming the music video as well~~~
There are also rumors that their comebacks for music programs are coming up too.

Thinking about it, it has been already one year and six months since BEAST's debut.
Oh my~~~
How can the time go by so fast~~~

Anyways, looking back to the old days, it was really full of hard times and troubles.

They had debuted in humility in the midst of the criticisms calling them a recycled group~~~
They had continuously hid their tears in the dark, musky, and lonely practice room~~~
But the beautiful fans, those who believed in their future and potential, had laughed and cried together with them~~~
The genius composers and choreographer, passionate vocal trainer~~~

The cooperation and harmony of everyone above raised the BEAST today~~~
And that is how they finally made the great objective of creating an official album happen.
So, thank you and thank you.

As a parent, my heart is just speechless at how I should pay back to everyone who I am thankful for.

Since it was Parent's Day~~~
Dongwoon had spilt that precious time of his and brought three baskets of carnation flowers.
One for his grandfather, one for his mother, and the last one was probably for me right?

Watching him bring the flowers, I slightly scolded him for being a thoughtless boy.
I asked him why he bought the baskets based on the number of people~~~
Basically, meaning that it was a waste buying so much.
However, inside, I felt really proud.
It would have been awkward to see the family go into an uproar for a single carnation flower basket.

And while I was scolding him, I told him directly so he won't forget.
To "Never, ever lose his initial mindset!"
When I told him, he answered back to me with his two round eyes.
That he will never lose his initial mindset.

The reason I scolded Dongwoon when I had seen him was because I wanted to show my gratitude to the people I was thankful for. ^^
Even though this is lacking compared to the blessing you guys have given him~~~ I will be thankful if you will understand my motive for it. ^^

Dongwoon's mother and I are waiting for the day we will be going to SBS hall on the day that BEAST comeback.

I say my greeting to everyone in this world once again.

IDK, maybe I'm alone in this but I don't like Son Papa.
Yes, up to now he has only said good stuff but it seems weird that he feels te need to say something everytime his son does something and in my opinion he is one of the first parents who will stick their nose into business that has nothing to do with them.

uhmmm yeah. I didn't say he did...
I was saying he would stick his nose into business when something (let's say something that isn't worth congratulating) happens, which is what I'm afraid of in the future.
Take for example the DBSK lwasuit and how it got really messy between parents and sons and press. That's what would happen to the guys too, is what I think.
I'm generally not a big fan of parents being all vocal about their famous offsprings business.

Understandable completely, especially if it comes down to B2ST having something similar to DBSK or KARA or whatever, but in a way it's sweet. It shows that major difference between parents who only speak up and support their kids when something bad happens and those who support their kids when they're doing something good with their band and succeeding. Not to mention he thanks the fans, which is generally going to be massive points on his end, because how many parents have you heard thanking the fans for supporting their child and their band?
The only other parent we ever actually hear talking about their kid is CL's dad.

I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing. I think he'd definitely get involved if some shit hit the fan with Beast and Cube, but not in a negative manner. He seems very well read and intelligent, so he probably wouldn't do something overly scandalous. In my opinion, I think he would just assure the fans that he's supporting Dongwoon and the others in the band. I think he's sensible enough not to come out and spread malicious things or conflicting things or approach news reporters, unless Cube was blatantly lying about something he had clear knowledge of.

Also, he doesn't always only say stuff about Beast when it's good. There was that one article about them choosing not the model Japanese traditional attires. I think his blog posts are beyond just writing about Beast and communicating to fans, as a parent of one of the members. He always seems to talk about character and making sure that Dongwoon is still a (relatively) decent character despite what fame and popularity can do to warp people (read: Lindsay Lohan, although I wonder if her sticky past doesn't have anything to do with what she's like now. I actually kind of liked her songs, but this irrelevant).

In any case, I don't think that the parents are uninvolved when some contractual issues or management issues arise. A parent is a parent, but an adult in the world is always someone's child. Maybe it's due to the differences in Western and Eastern culture, but normally Asian parents and I'm basing this on all my friends, mine and even celebrities and etc. from other Asian countries, but you can always expect an Asian parent to meddle (no negative or positive connotation here, I just meant that they always have to get involved) with their kids' affairs. Whether it is work, personal life, love life, friendships and whatnot, parents will always be there to breathe down your neck and make sure you do what they feel is right. I don't think it's just celebrity parents.

If a completely normal Asian kid is screwed by his company at work, his parents would probably help him out and get themselves somehow involved. This usually cripples a person's ability to be independent and I know lots of Asian kids who aren't (independent), but not everyone turns out like a leech on their parents.

As essentially as possible, I just think Son Papa wants to be the middle ground between fans, the band and the company so that he can probably mediate if anything happens. Though, it's alright, not everyone has to like Son Papa. I can see where you're coming from though, because vocal parents in kpop are usually the ones mucking things up.

Okay, that makes sense, but at the same time, who is he more likely to see? He can tell Dongwoon's brother more often/to his face what he thinks, but like he said, Dongwoon had to cut time out of his schedule to go see them. Korean artists rarely get the time to see their parents, that's why they cry so much on shows when they finally see them on the TV. If my blog was the only way my kid could see my support for him and read how I felt about him, then I would want to show my support that way.
And plus, you never know if he's written blogs about his other son in previous/following blogs, these ones are just specially to Dongwoon and the band's fans.

I'm pretty sure Son Papa sees Son Hyung (Dongwoon's older brother) more and can always talk to him, or at least more than he can with Dongwoon. Perhaps it was Son Hyung's personal request not to be put on the blog so much. Anyway, more than talking about Dongwoon, I think Son Papa is trying to reach out to the B2uties and sort of assure them that Beast is fine and he's supporting them as a parent. Since Dongwoon was underage when he joined Cube, Son Papa probably had to give consent to let Dongwoon join and debut as an artist under Cube. Maybe he feels responsible towards Dongwoon and the fans to ensure that he protects Dongwoon and the blog entries are just ways to communicate with fans.

I don't feel bad for Son Hyung though, because he probably gets to stay at home and spend more time with his parents while Dongwoon probably only sees them once every few weeks or every few months. I mean, isn't it much better to spend time with your family physically then have to access your family through a virtual blog? Son Papa probably has a different way to show his affections for Son Hyung.

I wish I had a dad like Son Papa OTL He's always so inspirational, kind and loving toward his family and Dongwoon. I'm glad he's doing his best not to let the fame and popularity get to Dongwoon. I don't think arrogant, cocky and Dongwoon would bode well (especially since he's also extremely goodlooking).
