Since the beginning of the lawsuit between SM Entertainment and JYJ, the latter have been absent from TV broadcast. Fans and industry professionals alike have speculated for a while that because of SM entertainment's influence, JYJ have been shunned by the broadcasting stations. Just last week, MBC suddenly cancelled the airing of an interview of the 'Ripley' cast, in which Park Yoochun is the lead male actor. Today, KBS finally publicly addressed their stance and reason for not allowing JYJ on KBS broadcasts. Check out the translation of KBS's statement below:

“JYJ is currently involved in an on-going lawsuit with their former management agency. KBS is trying to remain an objective standpoint on the whole situation, but it is generally understood when celebrities are involved in legal disputes, we limit their appearances because it could possibly influence the outcome of the lawsuit.

It looks like JYJ has submitted a request to nullify their existing contract with the former agency hence allowing them to temporarily participate in individual activities. But JYJ has signed another contract with a new agency, and so they are currently under a dual contract.

Therefore, for these reasons, KBS has decided if JYJ continues with TV appearances, they could possibly raise further legal problems, and damage the overall growth and system of the country’s cultural industry. So until JYJ and their agency solve their legal disputes, we will not allow any of their TV appearances. Future casting and appearances will be determined according to court decisions.”

In other words, KBS would be butt fucked by SM if they were to let JYJ appear on TV.

If JYJ was gonna "damage the overall growth and system of the country's cultural industry" I highly doubt they would be named ambassador for all those organizations.

Really I've just gotten immune to all this it happens so often.

maybe they shouldn't allow SME artists to appear on their channel... that'd be fair...

Honestly, KBS, why bother giving excuses? I think it's better if you just block without giving excuses, will do you better.

The list of comedians in Entertainment are rising. At the top is SME with that one court hearing about them saying that BoA, The Trax, and CSJH makes more than TVXQ in that one year where TVXQ was the most active. And at most of their hearings actually. Overall, SME is a natural comedian. Training its upcoming comedians, KBS and MBC, and that KFC thing. Thanks for the laugh.

So they'll just have them in their dramas to bring in money and ratings. But not anything else? Their whole reasoning is such BS. I agree with what C-JES fired back at them.

Date: 2011-05-18 08:22 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] yuukihitohira.livejournal.com
Apparently this statement was taken down from the KBS message boards after C-Jes released their response that kind of put KBS in their place.

But seriously, with all that JYJ is doing, especially with being made ambassadors and such for important things like Jeju becoming one of the new World Wonders, I highly doubt that they are damaging the ~cultural growth~ of Korea :|

KBS you're a little behind, that "dual contract" claim was dismissed by the court ages ago so stop the damn cockblocking, would ya?

"allowing them to temporarily participate in individual activities" vs. "with TV appearances, they could possibly raise further legal problems"

if they are allowed individual activities how can they raise further legal problems? besides the double contract thing was dismissed by court. get over it kbs. sm is your pimp and you the ho.

fck. you damage this, dear KBS, without JYJ your country's 'cultural industry' is rather colorless and looks like a strict, closed, shit system.

I love how they're trying to bring something with the word "nation" in it, out of nowhere, to touch the proud side of the korean public...

why do they even state anything? We all know this is bullshit huh.

There actually is a bunch of court cases, decisions and appeals pending, I'm not so great with Korean so I'm not sure if it actually involves the three members of JYJ or just their lawyers. I'm pretty sure its just a series of dumbass lawyer battles.

I know that when KARA had a lawyer battle, they didn't appear on broadcasts together, but not necessarily by their own choice. It may have been that channels like KBS didn't want to appear to be for or against either party and paying JYJ to appear would seem like a vote in their favor.

Sorry, I didn't notice that everyone was talking about SM. I thought people were talking about JYJ's lawsuit against AVEX in Japan. My bad.

i guess you can't really blame them though
other SM artists are really popular and any
station would be afraid to lose them to be on their
shows.. I bet that if it was a lesser company that
they were going against, nobody would bother banning them
