Kim Dongwan "Shinhwa Members Said I Must Be Having A Hard Time Making A Living"

This is the first time that Kim Dong Wan takes on the musical stage, he also talked about what Shinhwa members thought about his transgender role.

On May 17th at the KT &G Sang sang Art hall "Hedwig" press call was held. The 4 actors who will play "Hedwig": Kim Dong Wan, Kim Jae Wook, Choi Jae Woong and Jo Jeong Seok took the stage transformed as the blonde transgender.

After demostrating some highlights from the show, Kim Dong Wan stated with a shy smile, "Wearing make up and dresses make me feel very embarrassed". "However, when Im together with the audience, I feel hypnotized and I have a lot of fun".

This day Kim Dong Wan transformed into a sexy transgender rocker Hedwig wearing smoky make up, a black sexy dress and a blonde wig.

Kim Dong Wan added, "When public photos were released, Shinhwa members sent me a text message. The message had a crying emoticon and said You must be having a hard time making a living and laughed sincerely".

After finishing his military duty Kim Dong Wan chose "Hedwig" as his comeback project. In this regard Kim Dong Wan stated, "I wanted to do this type of work". "There was no reason to hesitate". "I would not exactly call this work but more like Im fortunate to be chosen for this type of role". "I feel honored".

When asked about the challenges he stated with a satisfactory expression, "Frankly, waxing was difficult, it hurts a lot". "Hedwig and I have things in common, when singing "Wig in a Box" I feel like Hedwig shares many similarities with celebrities"

Kim Dong Wan already took the stage on May 14th for the first show. He added with overwhelming emotions, "At the end of the show there is a scene when I have to take my clothes off signifying forgiveness; I felt like just throwing my self out there and removing my shell".

Musical "Hedwig" is a story of a boy named Hansel) lost part of himself to East Berlin when he came to America. Once there, he lost the rest to Tommy Gnosis. The musical is Hedwig's retelling of his life, accompanied by his band "The Angry Inch."

Musical Hedwig opened on May 14th running until August 21st at the KT & G Sang Sang Art Hall in Samseong, Seoul.

i think that this is definitely a good project. he seems like such a humble person, the perfect kind of person to play this role. i wish him so much luck. wish i could see it.
