omonatheydidSNSD's successor as the No.1 girl group seems to have been passed on to Girls' Day according to a poll from the community website, DC Inside (www.dcinside.com). The poll took place from April 26th thru May 3rd and asked netizens, "Post SNSD, which rookie girl group is the most anticipated?" In the survey conducted, Girls' Day (Sojin, Jihae, Mina, Yura, Hyeri) took No.1.
Girls' Day received 21% of the votes, or 1903 out of 9065 votes. The group made their debut in 2010 with a cute concept and were criticized. However, they have come a long way since then and despite having a rocky start, has become one of the successful girl group this year. They made waves with their 2nd single "Nothing Lasts Forever," and showed off their powerful vocal and dance.
In March, Girls' Day's popularity shot up when they released the cute and very addicting single "Twinkle Twinkle." The choreography has made waves in the Korean music industry for its simple and repetitive dance. In addition, Girls' Day have even made their acting debut through a cameo for the MBC drama "I Believe In Men."
On May 3rd, Girls' Day was appointed ambassador for the Seoul International Beauty Festival.
Following in 2nd was miss A with 1631 votes or 18%. miss A has received much attention since their hit debut single "Bad Girl Good Girl" last year, which they followed up with their next single "Breathe." They immediately joined the ranks of popular idols upon their debut. Most recently, miss A released their 1st English song "Love Alone," which was produced by German producer Fuego. The song was released for Kim Yuna's ice skating show, "KCC Switzen All That Skate Spring 2011." The song took over charts at #1 upon its release.
Coming in 3rd was A Pink with 1438 votes or 16.4%. They made their debut in April and took on the concept of pure and innocence. They have been nicknamed "SNSD 2" for taking on a similar concept as SNSD's debut song "Into The New World." A Pink has been promoting their title song, "I Don't Know."
Other rookies who ranked were the 6-member group Dal Shabet, SISTAR, Rania, and 5dolls.
