'MR. TAXI/Run Devil Run' Sells 100,000 In First Week

After reaching the top of the charts in Japan within a few days, Girls' Generation's newly released single 'MR. TAXI/Run Devil Run' managed to sustain its momentum, selling over 100,000 copies in the first week of its release. The single also managed to reach second place in the weekly Oricon rankings. With the strong sales of their first original Japanese single and the enthusiastic response to the Japanese concert tour, the girls' popularity in Japan is at an all-time high.

In related news, the "Mr TAXI Dance PV" that was released last week has surpassed 2,000,000 views on the official Universal Music Japan YouTube page.

well unlike SNSD, JGS has a wider audience from ppl that watch his dramas. So it's not really that surprising, besides the girls really didn't promote this single that much. Yes TV shows talked about it, but they are still yet to appear in any shows or do interviews about it.

Their numbers might not be as great as some other ppl expect, but their sales are growing up consistently. And 100K is still a good number =).

i thought genie & gee did well which would kind of give them the advantage since jgs is only an actor and you're beautiful is a korean drama

genie & gee did well but their main audiences are still teens to young adults. Actors have more privilege than singers. It's easier for them to sell anything coz they normally have a huge older women followings. U see up there, they listed Lee Byunghun as 2nd on oricon chart and Toho was already popular when they could top LBH. RyuSiwon and many other Korean actors also released singles in Japan before with a good sales.
