Chito Miranda, main vocalist of Philippine rock band Parokya ni Edgar, defended KPop against the haters with the following tweets...

Translation:

Chito's follower:  Well, unless (those fans) understand what those (KPop singers) sing.  That's why a lot of people are hating because those fans do not understand what those acts are singing in the first place.

Chito Miranda:  So what if they do not know or understand what those acts are singing?  As long as they enjoy what they are hearing, we should respect that.  Music is not just about the lyrics, it's also about how it makes you feel.  Why is it fun to sing "Butsekik" by Yoyoy Villame even if its lyrics do not make sense?  Or what about "Five Years" by Sugar Hiccup?  Anyway, we all have different reasons why we enjoy music.  Sometimes it's because the singer is beautiful.  I like this song as long as this singer sings it.  Everyone has their own likings.

Chito Miranda:  I love pop music.  I love Girls' Generation, 2NE1, Gary Valenciano, and Sarah Geronimo.  What I don't like are those Pinoys who imitate KPop*.  They're so cheesy.

Chito Miranda:  Girls' Generation are so badass! Their songs are beautiful, they even look cute dancing.  Those Pinoys imitating KPop are nothing compared to them.

*  He was referring to this and this.

all hail to Chito Miranda.

Sadly there a lot of ignorant peeps in the Phils that don't know anything about KPOP and all they could do is bash them. Personally, I don't really care about those haters. KPOP is here so they just need to fckin deal wit it! LOL.

I don't listen to Filipino music. I am actually a huge fan of KPop.

I will say this though, to hate on the Pinoys "imitating" KPop is the same as saying that KPop imitates Western music. So what if they took influence from KPop. KPop takes influence from Western music all the time. Whether it be the beats or the imagery. I.E. Teddy grew up in America, even if for a short time, he was still influenced by the culture in America.

Had those Filipino groups song and PV had been produced by Teddy, JYP or some other famous Korean producer, are you still going to call it imitating? And if not, then why say the they are imitating KPop when the only difference is who produced the final product?

Obviously, KPop is not 'famous' (and by that I mean shown on MTV or VH1, like how Spanish music is shown on some TV stations nationwide) in America. In Asia, Asian artists are popular, so if the Philippines or any other Asian country wants to use the KPop/JPop formula why hate? If you were the CEO of a label you know you'd be doing the same thing to.

since kpop is having a huge blow up in the philippines right now, anything relating to pop groups are labeled as k-pop wannabes, unless proven otherwise by their debut/songs/clothing.

with xlr8 & popgirls, their debut was heavily influenced by suju and wg (coming from a very big fan of theirs)causing a whole lot of pinoys to be pissed calling them unoriginal/cheesy/kpop wannabes. but slowly but surely they are getting better and more original...but it doesn't help that kpop is so popular that everything they do is seen as kpop-ripoff by blind kpop pinoy fans& the crab mentality pinoys are accustomed to.

i dont get why flips dont support their own. tsk tsk

IA. but "our own" should stop releasing Kpop-inspired (to make it politically correct) and covers of songs. Where is OPM circa 2003-2006?

dead and buried in the ground? im sorry, but i dont think people want to dance to ballads at a club. time to get with the times, and the times are all about big bass/beats and good rhythms. i agree about the covers of songs from other artists, but p-pop artists have not done a cover of a song.

tbh, the only songs of xlr8 that was inspired by kpop was You're So Hot.
if u have their album u would know that their album doesnt sound like kpop at all. more like 90's american pop. lol

& honestly this:

nor this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YCCt6033wyI
sounds like kpop.
