omonatheydidA change for idol groups can be both good or bad, especially the idol groups rising in the flood of the incoming these past years in this generation. If it is good, they follow by what the public says which can indeed be a risk for rookies.
Last June, group INFINITE made a debut with their mini album ‘First Invasion’ in showing off their strong charisma. Because they couldn’t shake off their rookie image, they took off their leather jackets in exchange for pastel-tone boy looks, something different than other idols who are frantically trying to find a concept.
There are members who wore the outfit that is right for them a bit late, there are members who purpose tried to fit the outfit into their bodies [*T/N: Talking about their image]. With distinct character and perfect teamwork, they hit two birds with one stone as Infinite reveals their chameleon-like styling in having a romantic image.
-Changing your image into romantic-dol, the fans’ responses are hot.
“It’s still cold in the morning and at night, but the season is spring right now and many are giving love to our refreshing image. When we stand on stage and see the crowd, there are fans who smile proudly like mothers. The fans increase in seeing out adlibs with our actions change with every performance.”
-With the sudden concept change, there are probably members who disagree with the image.
“In the case of Hoya, he likes songs and choreographies that has charisma and is moderate. In seeing that the new album’s concept was confirmed as romantic, he looked back on the videos during “She’s Back” and “BTD” promotions and continued to refuse in saying that he couldn’t do it.”
-Who gained the most benefit in the change?
“The leader of the team, Sunggyu hyung, has always had the character of being serious, so he was embarrassed by the cute facial expressions and poses. But then, he started practicing backstage in front of the mirror and all of a sudden, his winks and hearts became natural. Now, he even receives compliments from fans that they ‘only see the leader.’”
-In this round of promotions, can we say that it’s the leader’s generation?
“If you relate it to soccer, instead of putting out the best, we take the ball together and if one person is better off than the other, we can’t be organized. There’s no specific positions each member has as we all play offense and defense. You can say we’re the neighborhood soccer team that never gets the ball stolen.”
-Your confidence in your teamwork seems astounding.
“Of course, our teamwork may be more ahead than other idol groups, but our teamwork derives That’s why our fans take interest in each of our characteristics which later on, they care for the group as a whole with all seven of us having different characters. It’s important of us to have good teamwork when it comes to being uniform, but we work well with one another without saying a word.”
-When will Infinite leave the neighborhood?
“In April, we think we’ll be performing in Thailand and next month, we’re on the plane to Singapore. Also, we have a solo showcase waiting in Japan. We’re excited to meet with international fans in spreading the K-POP fever.”
