Jakarta, 29 March 2011

To answer the statement from CJES Entertainment which was posted on their website (28 March 2011) about the JYJ Indonesia Concert (SICC/ 09 April 2011), with a heavy heart, we as the promoter would like to announce that the JYJ World Tour Concert in Indonesia has been cancelled by CJES Entertainment.

As a promoter, we have tried to give our best for the preparation in one month. We have worked hard to fulfill all that is needed for this concert, one of it is giving the best and most exclusive venue in SICC but during the preparations towards the concert day, CJES Entertainment decided to cancel the concert due to the production requirements they demand is not possible to fit in the venue. The additional production costs that was suddenly given to us is too high and also those additional requests are not inside our signed contract. In that situation, promoter have the rights to decline their requests.

Besides the production problems, this concert can be done without any problems if only CJES Entertainment would have wanted to kindly negotiate with us and not forcing one side to oblige their impossible requirements.

With a humble, we would like to apologize to all JYJ Fans in Indonesia who have waited long enough for this concert, and the fact that until present, we have not reach a good decision regarding the additional production. Considering the short length of time, we have agreed to CJES Entertainment's decision whom have announce it first in their website about the cancellation of JYJ World Tour Concert in Indonesia.

For all the fans who have purchased the tickets and paid, 100% refunds will be announce when, where and how on Thursday, 31st March 2011.

Sincerely,

Tita Ardiati
President Director
DreamCatcher Indonesia

Dear JYJ, i know you want to put on a spectacular show and give the middle finger to SME...but maybe for your first World Tour...don't go so huge with stage production. and maybe, just maybe you should plan these things out a little better. get the venues/dates set up ahead time so there are no visa issues and try not to release tickets a week or two before the show's date. just a thought.

"I let you know some details regarding to the cancellation of Indonesia concert.

As Cjes Entertainment(hereafter Cjes) announced previously, DCI, Indonesian promoter did not fulfill the article of the contract we made several times.

DCI kept missing the deposit payment dates and showed inexperienced attitude on process of preparing the concert. Cjes visited Indonesia trying to solve this problem with extra fee but Indonesian Promoter seemed not to be ready to organise the concert. Followingly, Cjes decided not to keep this which will be apparently finalised with mess.

Knowing how fans in Indonesia are in pain and sadness, JYJ feels hurt and wants to say sorry for you. Please do understand this incident for both JYJ and you guys, JYJ's lovely fans.

Thank you for your concern and all your cares."

IDK for other countries but potential producers from SG didn't take on JYJ for this reason.

Um.. I'm not really into JYJ fandom and don't really know anything more than what I read in Omona. But I don't think Jaejoong image would be too much of a problem in Indonesia, since bands like Suede and Placebo did a concert here.

I really wanted them to succeed this time and have an easy, smooth tour without any complications. Is the concert in Singapore still happening? I feel so sad for the Indonesian fans, and also for the boys. From one bad company to another...

Dear lord.... this mess.

I feel so sorry for everyone, I don't even know what to say.
They want to hold an amazing world tour or w.e., and want absolutely the best of the best for their fans, but going as far as adding additional production costs and requesting stuff that isn't in their signed contrat... really?

I don't know much about Indonesia, but I wonder if even the most "exclusive"(well according to this press release) venue in SICC can't fit the production requirements they are demanding, how will they pull through if they plan to have a concert there then? :/

they can never have a smooth concert can they? i wonder what will happen other places. will those be cancelled too because of "irreconcilable differences?" :/

hell, at this point it looks like they'll be better off by themselves since cjes is not really doing them any favors (as far as overseas promotions are concerned) >.>

I love JYJ, but out of this whole mess, I feel for my Indonesian Cassies. The ones who bought tickets, accidentally bought extra, tried to sell those and the international fans who were allowed to buy tickets as well ahead of time.

Instead of mudslinging from either side, I'd prefer that they focused on apologizing to fans more or try and work something out instead of canceling. Just like the poor fans in Hawaii, Seattle, and San Francisco. :/

my impression is that a lot of asian artists, esp the boy/girl groups, don't hold regular music concerts but large scale shows, with heavy emphasis on effects, staging, and costumes, thus require a lot more production costs than western artists- not including their pay. that's why not a lot of promoters are capable of footing that kind of production fees esp on such a short notice

i would love for jyj to hold more small scale, intimate lives, where they just come, sing and interact with the audience without so much fanfare, kind of like what they did in the US showcases

honestly we don't know what kind of production they were asking for and even though this might be hard to understand to some people that are not quite familiar with concert production and artist management, most of the times the requirements can't be adjust to fit the promoters' budget and venues, especially when you are talking about a big scale production. Artists send in advance something call a 'Technical Rider' which includes all the production requirement from P.A systems to in-venue catering, if the company here -DCI- wasn't able to fulfill these requirements is not the Artist's fault.

Besides the production problems, this concert can be done without any problems if only CJES Entertainment would have wanted to kindly negotiate with us and not forcing one side to oblige their impossible requirements.

My field of work is Concert production and artist management, and this statement alone shows the lack of professionalism from DCI as a production/promoter company. There's no such thing as 'forcing one side to oblige', there are requirements a promoter/production company must fulfill, and the artist itself isn't forcing anyone, if you as a company can't handle a show because technically is too difficult for you or you just can't afford it, you shouldn't take on it.

For example, you'd be surprised to know that the Lighting system for David Guetta is twice the artist's fee alone, someone might think its crazy but that's what he needs to make his show/concert.

Honestly is not as simple as it sounds and DCI sounds really unprofessional, imo. LOL i'm just rambling now.

Point is, this is DCI trying to blame the artist because they couldn't fulfill the requirements, and most often than not, that situation alone is enough to void a contract.

Date: 2011-03-29 11:57 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] esmiux.livejournal.com
lol what is this, people is actually blaming C-JeS? maybe this is my business side talking but with DCI's statement they are pretty much saying is their fault. They are trying to get people confused by saying 'look at us poor little company wants to bring them but we can't afford them, sad face we tried our best but they are so harsh!!1!.'

smh.

The showcase tour was quite a mess. The boys gave awesome performances. But pre-production and post-production were a complete nightmare. So I'm not surprised that the world concert tour is experiencing a lot of problems. I hope JYJ would still have a successful tour though~ But I just hope CJes should be less demanding.
