In an effort to move forward, CEOs from various agencies came together to discuss a recent report put out by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism that painted them in a somewhat negative light.

The report dealt primarily with the trainees, with each agency averaging roughly a hundred of them, and the fact that most were either in their teens or even younger. Despite their young age, they regularly had days beginning at 7 AM and ending at 11 PM, over a time period of 2 years, with their contract averaging out to be 4 years. The trainees also reported that although they did not feel regulations were harsh, some had to undergo strict diets, and that excessive absences in school regularly occurred due to training/promotions.

The conference included the CEOs of several top companies, including SM Entertainment, JYP Entertainment, Cube Entertainment, and more. We will post more details as they become available.

Do you think reform is necessary when it comes to trainees?

Couldn't find a pic of JYP's CEO, so I used JY Park...

Who is that CEO to the left of JYP? He's kinda hot.

And yay! for some reform in the trainee system. SME, for example, has so many trainees, but a lot of them quit after some time because they either found training was too harsh or taking too long to debut. Schooling should at least be prioritized because there's never a guarantee that a trainee would get to debut.

i hope they come up with something substantial. If anything, the CEOs are going to be acting in the best interests of their respective comanpies rather than whats best for trainees...

lol KYM was kinda hot a few years ago.

This is a good step though, I hope they actually act on it and not just for show.

KYM is still ok looking now. I saw him in one of SNSD's show.

I really think that trainee system should be changed. For SM, they should just take few trainees with the biggest potential to make it and let those who are inspired to be entertainers stay in SM academy where they have to pay their own expenses while monitoring those students with great improvements. The expenses they incurred from the trainee system just ain't cool as it will be burdened to those who get to debut.

that painted them in a somewhat negative light.
I wonder where does that come from #irony#?

Don' care about the others but Papa Hong, you better not disappoint me è_______é! I know you're great.

The company, for start should stop charging their artist for their failed investment (aka: trainee who can't debut). There is a risk no matter what kind of business you are doing.

Hope they can proof their words and this is will not turn into another 'committee group' and hold other artist activity.

each trainee has roughly 100 trainees? wow. and probably only a fifth of those they have right now will debut, maybe less...

Date: 2011-03-25 08:14 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] anconeous.livejournal.com
Actually, I think the only company that has 100 trainees is SM. I don't think other companies even have the funds to train that many kids.
