Korean media mistranslates Han Geng again, Leeteuk unfortunately falls for it

Hallyu idol and Super Junior’s leader, Lee Teuk, revealed his feelings about former member Hangeng on behalf of the whole team.

Recently, Hangeng held a press conference in Hong Kong to promote his new movie, “Daemusaeng“. During the interview, a reporter asked, “Not long ago, a member of Super Junior was hit and injured by a water bottle during a performance in Shanghai. Did you hear about this?”

Hangeng replied, “I didn’t know. I should call and make sure he is okay.” However, he quickly added, “Actually, I did attempt several times to get in contact… but they ignored my calls,” shocking the public with his controversial answer.

On March 21st, Lee Teuk shared his thoughts about the situation through his Twitter. He tweeted, “The door is always open. There is always an empty seat left for you.” He added, “It would be nice if you told the truth. We have never let go of your hand. I don’t want to be sad because of lies anymore. We are Super Junior!! Still, I wish you happiness,” showing his disappointment towards the situation.

Netizens commented, “I feel so sad for Super Junior”, “Definitely leader-like. Very cool”, and “Hangeng…He’s doing well.”


Han Geng said when asked: "(Earlier on, a member of Super Junior was hurt by something in Shanghai?) "I don't know and I will call to ask. Actually it happened to me before as well but I managed to dodge it."

To be fair to Leeteuk, it was originally from a Chinese news outlet, which I'm sure he doesn't understand. And like most people he'd expect the media to report, you know, accurate translations. So I don't blame him for falling for it. A lot of people did, obviously.

Moreover, I'd say it's kinda hard to get in touch right now since Han Geng's been very busy when this was posted (in HK's Asia Film Festival doing promos for the movie, attending the ceremony, etc). It was literally reported like 4 hours ago, so I doubt Han Geng is even aware this is going on.

i honestly think that there are some rifts which can only be healed by time. i think leeteuk like the idea of SJ13 more than the reality, because there are oviously reasons why they aren't all together. i don't actually think they're on good terms (maybe heechul and hangeng, from the promotion heechul's given his cd in the past on youngstreet), but i think leeteuk is nursing a grudge against someone else who introduced another crack into super junior. i'm sure he's equally pissed off at kangin, to be honest.

at the end of the day, everyone always seems to hold leeteuk responsible for everything, which is silly. super junior is full of twenty-something year olds who make their own choices and say what they want to say and don't really answer to anyone anymore. they're all idiot boys ad as heechul always seems to be saying, they're not perfect, they're not ideal, and they shouldn't have to be. they're just entertainers.

god i get so fed up when people think that being an idol=being a role model. yes, you shouldn't do stupid shit because korean society is ridiculously judgmental. but western society doesn't hold the same standard to its actors and singers? where has this absurdity come from? why do we continue to nurture it?
