In my country you can drink tap water (for instance in my home city tap water is much more cleaner than any bottled water sold in Europe). I don't know anyone with a water purifier at their home.
oic. I live in the US and most people (in my town at least) do have water purifiers here. There's a bunch of stuff even in normal tap water that regular sterilization won't get.
Oh well, maybe it's more related to water sources, bedrock, and terrain than purification process that authorities use (I would expect US to have enough high technology to purify tap water well if it was possible). Anyhow, if you ever visit Nordic countries you can pretty safely drink tap water.
I drank tap water when I lived in Singapore but for people in Indonesia, it's impossible to drink tap water without getting diarrhea or swallowing dusts sometimes.
I was just surprised that SK as fairly highly developed country (technology wise) required water purifiers. I never thought that you could drink tap water everywhere.
Yeah, you need water purifiers elsewhere in the world. I think Scandinavia is like the only place in the world where it's safe to drink tab water. I've gotten food poisoning from Chinese tab water so many times that I'd be reluctant to drink it even with a water purifier.
Umm I live in Portugal and I and a lot of people drink tap water. I also drank tap water in Spain, France, Switzerland and Germany just like lot of other people did (at least in the cities where I stayed). But then I know of some places even in my country where you're supposed to drink bottled water, so maybe it depends on smaller regions and not say whole countries.
It's possible, I've never been to Portugal (and in places where I have been I've always drunk bottled water). But just because you drink tap water doesn't mean it's pure. I know Chinese drink it but as soon as I get even an ice cube I get food poisoning. I guess the locals have an immunity towards it? It might be propaganda but I always got the impression that if you travel outside of Scandinavia you're not supposed to drink tap water /shrug
So from what I found online it looks like tap water in most places should be safe for adults with no immune system diseases, but children, elderly people and pregnant women should probably drink bottled water. And, at least in the US, while tap water has chemicals, it has stricter safety protocols than bottled water. I also found extremist websites that claim you should always drink bottled/tap, but they sounded a bit exaggerated so I dunno ._. Most websites advised to check the composition of your local water source, so I guess it really does depend on specific regions.
Well, the locals drink it. But I've gotten food poisoning even from McDonald's melted ice cubes, so..... xD But that was in Shanghai. Water's more pure in the country side.
