After holding an emergency meeting with Cube Entertainment on March 14th, Universal Japan has announced through their official homepage that B2ST will be debuting in Japan as scheduled, but all performances will be canceled for the time being.

On March 15th, representatives of Cube revealed, “We expected the album release to be canceled, but after a meeting with Universal Japan on the 14th, we decided that it’d be difficult for the album release to be postponed any further. Japan usually releases the albums onto the market a few days before the official release date, and B2ST’s albums were already in stores by the 11th, so we could not cancel it.”

They continued, “We can’t do anything about the release, but all performances scheduled, such as the first stage of ‘Shock‘ this weekend at the Universal Japan Studios, has been canceled.”

Other entertainment agencies are also finding difficulties in canceling pre-scheduled promotions and releases. One representative stated, “After talking with our Japanese agencies, we’re having trouble canceling most of the schedules right now.”

i'm glad that they canceled the performances....right now I don't think that someone can br happy listening a performance....with all that happens in Japan, their priority is now to save the people not the entertain them...

“After talking with our Japanese agencies, we’re having trouble canceling most of the schedules right now.”

Troubles? Does that mean that the Japanese societies doesn't want them to cancel in the first place? I can understand wanting to keep everything going on like it should be in the first place though. But the situation is really too difficult. And with the nuclear plant problem going on...

I saw the tweets from maknae, Kiwi and Yoseob <3. I really hope there won't be further complications.

I've heard a lot about Japan continuing on outside of the heavily affected areas. So the areas unaffected probably don't want to cancel because those parts are still working as usual.

well, lots of events are being canceled or postponed in Tokyo and Osaka right now. I think people want a distraction, but there are also still problems with the national energy supply which makes it even worse timing.

true, I kind of forget about the nuclear problem :/
but they definitely should concentrate more on that

(lol who should concentrate more on it?? it is the major topic over all the japanese news, they are all being very aware of it: http://www3.nhk.or.jp/daily/english/index.html ...and american media is blowing it even more out of proportion, I won't even watch the american news coverage ^^;)

I don't really pay attention to the news. I didn't even know about the tsunami and earthquake until hours later because I had been on the road.
what I mean is, the fact that people are canceling events is giving those companies that their canceling with the chance to do more for their community. I don't understand that Japan is resilient but I think a break needs to be taken too.

From: [identity profile] xiola-azuthra.livejournal.com
it's also a matter of whether or not the events are economic revenue. they need revenue right now. they will be losing a lot of it.

which is the main reason I'm trying not to cancel my trip, but I am trying to postpone it to the end of the month... :/ but I'm scared of the nuclear issue too... if the wind wouldn't change it wouldn't really affect anyone south of Tokyo and a lot would go out to sea, but it does change sometimes and it has in the past few days so now I'm scared again. I can understand korean companies maybe not wanting to send their kids there for awhile, even if a lot of it is paranoia, it's justified paranoia...

True, but until things calm down I think a lot more things will be canceled than go through as planned.

When are you coming to Japan, and where? There are still strong quakes happening semi-regularly, so if you are not used to earthquakes it might be quite scary (there was an M6 last night in Shizuoka which shook Tokyo pretty hard - normally I would just be like "oh, that was pretty strong, I wonder where it was?" but I was actually shaking with fear ^^;;). I think the nuclear issue is mostly just affecting the Fukushima area, it's not a level of radiation to be worried about at all at the time being. (one of the reactor buildings is currently on fire so people are still being told to stay inside with all windows closed in the immediate area)

My first destination is Kyoto, which has been pretty fine so far, but my original trip plan was go to Kyoto on the 17th, stay with my friend, go to Tokyo April 6th, stay till near the end of the month, 3 days in Nagano, then go to Osaka for May, then go home. But my Tokyo schedule was planned around those SM concerts, really, otherwise I would stay in Kyoto longer (I don't have tickets but I spent a bunch of time making cosplay and I like meeting fans at concerts even if I can't get tickets in the end) and now I have no idea if they'll be on anymore... but also my friend in Kyoto might move home at the end of April depending if his visa doesn't get renewed or not, so if I go later this month I'll get less time to spend with him. I'm kind of torn coz a part of me wants those concerts to be cancelled so I can change the rest of my plans more easily but i mean, those concerts are almost a month after the quake so I think they are probably waiting to see how things go. I don't know. There's just TOO many things going on right now. If I got my flight refunded I'd just donate at least half of it to relief, but I can't see myself being able to take this trip any other time and I have no hours at work now coz it was already booked off, so I kind of have to go, and to some extent it's good for their economy if I go. :/ IDK. I figure if I'm able to postpone my ticket till the 27th like I'd planned, things will be more settled by then.

But I can't help wondering if I should just go on thursday and not waste that 10 days, coz everythign *reasonable* I've read about the radiation makes it seem fine, since I'm going to Kyoto. :/ IDEK... sorry tl;dr, there's just like too many seperate issues to consider so obviously i've been obsessing over it for a week =_=;

I think going to Kyoto should be okay. Coming to Tokyo, I'd say you can play it by ear if those are your plans, but unless there is another major quake closer to Tokyo Bay (god forbid), I think the situation will be okay by that time. The nuclear reactor cooling problem and related explosions is still on-going, but it would only seriously affect Tokyo in a way-beyond-worst-case scenario, as in something no nuclear scientist has said was at all possible. It's hard to remain clear-headed and calm but Tokyo should be safe in terms of radiation. Earthquakes, I don't know.

I don't really follow any SM artists, so I am not sure of the latest but I have not heard anything about the shows being canceled at this point. Honestly, however, I think there is a good chance they will be.

And I can understand, lol, it's a crazy time and it's natural to be concerned and unsure. It sounds like you have put a lot of effort into this trip and it would be a shame to have to cancel it completely.

thanks~ :) Yeah, I hope Tokyo doesn't get hit any further ~_~; but I can always change my tokyo plans if schedules are cancelled, and go during the last month of my trip instead of the first...

I'm still trying to pack in case my ticket-change isn't approved (I have to call tomorrow to confirm) and it's so hard packing properly without being sure! Hopefully it'll be postponed but if it's not I'm finding out less than 24 hrs before my flight leaves and my mother, of course, is not happy about it at all X_X; even though I'm pretty sure I'm not actually going to be *harmed*, but I guess my biggest fear right now is that if things get worse it would become very hard to leave the country...

Are you living there right now?

Wow, not much time to let you know! and yeah, I live in Tokyo. By chance, I was in Seoul over the weekend, and also by chance, I'm scheduled to fly to America tomorrow to visit family- on Korean Air. I seriously considered re-routing and trying to just go straight to LA from Korea, so I was also waiting until the last minute on the situation because of safety but also out of worry I'd get bumped off my flight/Narita would shut down, etc. I'm glad I came back so I could straighten up my room and check on friends for whom I only have keitai as a contact, but the "70% chance of a magnitude 7 aftershock" was freaking me out until it got downgraded.

there is good and bad; on the one hand it's "frivolous" entertainment, but on the other hand, it is economic revenue that Japan really needs right now when they will be losing a TON of their tourism revenue on top of their stocks falling drastically on top of their national debt already being one of the highest in the world even before the disaster. :/ So you can't really say cancellations are entirely good.

Cancelling issues make sense even if these events were taking place in effected areas. The country obviously doesn't want to lose anymore money...

hmm... interesting that Japan doesn't want the events cancelled (But I can totally understand that on an economic and "keep calm and carry on" mentality level), so maybe the SM concerts in April *won't* be cancelled? But I feel like Korean companies would be scared and want to cancel them...

I was supposed to go in 2 days to visit my friend in Kyoto and then go to Tokyo on the 1% chance of trying to get tickets for one of those concerts, but I have no idea what my trip schedule is like anymore or if I should feel guilty going, or guilty cancelling my plans, or what :(

man, dongwoon and yoseob's tweets are so ♥ ;_;
