I have an online friend who lives in Austria and he told me that it's whenever you finish high school at any age. :|

it's mandatory. i think there are only a few exceptions like a health problem or being a pro soccer player for the world cup (srs). i also remember being gay is also an exception but that just sounds fucked right?

apparently (according to my roomie) since the economy is down there are actually a lot of people trying to get their service over with right now (enough to the point where one of her friends/other people were actually rejected) o_o
