Seungyeon’s father is currently undergoing a controversy for statements he had made in an interview with Japan’s Fuji TV. Now it looks like he’ll be joined by Jiyoung’s father, who also made some contentious statements during a separate interview with Fuji TV.

On February 16th, the Japanese network aired an interview with Jiyoung’s father, Kang Gun Wook, through their “Super News” segment, and asked whether it was true that DSP Media only distributed ¥60,000 at the height of their “Lupin” promotions.

Kang replied, “At the time of the ‘Lupin’ promotions, about $400,000 USD in profit were made from digital sales. But all of that went into promotional expenses, and only a few hundred were left. Speaking in terms of the Japanese yen, that amounts to about ¥10,000. The distribution per member is about ¥60,000.

When further asked what Jiyoung herself thought about the recent lawsuit, he replied, “She’s probably upset. Jiyoung did ask whether it was necessary for it to develop into a lawsuit, but this won’t be inflicting any harm onto the girls’ promotional activities. If the company is in the wrong, they should apologize, but they actually said good job. How could I not get mad? They did not apologize even once. If conversing through words doesn’t work, the law must be used.

So…are the 3 actually making ANY decisions on their own? like…at all?

i'm fucking HATING the kara3 parents, because they are sounding like selfish bastards who are making this thing ALL ABOUT THEM instead about the girls.

i feel really bad for the girls, they clearly are not happy with this situation, in fact i feel like they don't even want this lawsuit, but their parents stupid pride is in the way.

Why don't you act like a damn father and act in the best interests of your daughter, not your wallet.

I don't understand why the parents are giving so many interviews. They are hurting their case and they are making their kids look like fools.

I don't see why the parents are getting so involved with this, especially doing interviews and publicizing it. I think all the members of KARA are mature enough to know what they're really feeling about the situation and what they should and want to do about it.

The "She's probably upset" part really pissed me off. How could he not even know what his daughter is feeling about this whole mess since it involves her? I can't even right now...;A;

i don't like the way the parents are publicizing it in this way but I do understand their need to get involved. Jiyoung is still underaged so I really don't get the hate for her parents (I don't know much about the whole kara ordeal). But I still think it's their responsibility to make sure their child is getting treated right.

Oh yeah this guy is a real bastard, trying to get fair compensation for his daughter's work, his teenage daughter who could obviously be trusted to make mature financial decisions for herself. How dare he speak to the media about his thoughts and feelings as to why Kara members are suing DSP instead of being all unclear and shady about it.

....wait a second, unfair compensation? A top idol group breaking apart?

Sounds kinda like JYJ, funny how many people supported JYJ to break apart from SM, to get equal pay and a fair contract, as well as complained when they didn't understand or see the decision making process.

And yet, here KARA dads are, telling the media why they are suing, their opinions and trying to help make the best decision for their daughters, which might include fair compensation for their work???

Double standards >.>

IDK maybe it's because of the way i've been raised or maybe it's my cultural background...but am i the only one who doesn't really feel surprised or angry that the parents are getting involved? i mean i think many parents invest a lot of time, money, and energy into supporting their kids, and supporting your child as they try to break into show-biz isn't an easy task, especially in south korea. so, if we are assuming that kara is indeed getting "abused" by DSP, then for a parent to see their child getting jipped is not only upsetting because it's their kid, but also because it undercuts the parent's own energy, time, and investment in the whole situation as well. if that's the case, if indeed a parent has a lot of involvement in supporting their kid and leading them into show-biz, then wouldn't they, in a sense, also be be getting ripped off? what if that's the case with kara's parents? i'm not saying it is, BUT WHAT IF? can you still blame them entirely?

Simply, no, of course it's not wrong for parents to become involved.

But how the parents dragged this through the media/even on twitter, and how the parents are starting to poke at other members they may like a little less, leaves MUCH to be desired.

Intent is good, but their actions suck.
