Seungyeon's father makes controversal remarks about Gyuri

Recently, Han Seungyeon’s father was interviewed on a Japanese program, and he firmly singled out KARA’s leader, Park Gyuri, as the underlying cause between KARA’s dispute with DSP Media.

On this week’s broadcast of Fuji TV’s ”Super News“, the reporter asked Han Seung Yeon’s father, Han Jong Chil, about who he thought was mainly responsible for KARA’s dispute. He replied, “I think the leader is acting with no responsibilities. This happened because of bad communication.”

He continued, “As KARA kept growing, the agency failed to be a good back support for them. The kids’ futures have become unstable.”

Han Jong Chil stated that the “members never had conflicts and disputes between each other”, but this is the first time someone has pointed their fingers at a particular member.

Netizens commented, “Why is he doing interviews like this in Japan?”, and “You can’t put all the blame onto the leader.”

Seungyeon’s father (who, by the way, is also a master sword craftsman) has spoken up to clarify the controversy surrounding his recent remarks in a Fuji TV interview.  The situation is “a complete misunderstanding“, he said to Korean news outlets.

He went on to say, “What was said in the Japanese broadcast was correct, but I had no intention of putting the blame on Gyuri. In any group, the leader is supposed to take care of the other members’ complaints by addressing them with the company. However, as the group’s complaints got bigger and bigger, Gyuri did not play her role well, which is why I’m disappointed.” However, he maintains that he “did not intend to blame Gyuri” for the problem with the company.

uhh... dude, if you blame the leader you blame gyuri, since she IS the leader.

also, she might be the leader, but shut up and stop making like she's the only one with the responsibility to care and voice the problems of the group, the girls also have mouths, they could have take it to the boss themselves, especially since they were the ones frustrated the most. why i would make someone complain for me about my issues and problems when i can do it myself and come across better with my opinions?

and who said she didn't play her role? i'ts up to the company to listen her or not, she would have yelled at their faces and made a pandemonium, in the end it's the company choice. omg i'm so angry at this dude.

This is his view, so be it. Gyuri as leader didn't fulfill one of her duties as leader in his opinion. It is completely stupid to speak to the media bout it. But we have no idea the exact question he was asked. Fujitv certainly edit is shady.

Members need to speak out. Parents, lawyers and everyone else are ruining them.

umm how is the situation "a complete misunderstanding" when both ways he's still throwing shade at gyuri. and if she didn't agree with the others how was she supposed to represent their claims well when their demands just grew? at some point girl has gotta look out for herself. it's only fair when the others are also only thinking about their best interests.

up until this point i thought seungyeon's dad was one of the more reasonable parents (and i gave him credit for choosing onew as the ideal son-in-law)... but this is making me reconsider. why did he have to say anything at all. and to the press to boot. =/

They don't make somebody the leader for nothing. That comes w/ certain strings attached.
Similarly, if you're a 91er, you're expected to take care of somebody who is a 92er. They can ask you to buy them lunch or coffee or smth. Just because you're a year older lol

i don't really get the role of leaders though, are they really meant to do all these "responsibilities" people think are thrust upon them? i doubt gyuri has any power regardless of anything.

from what i've gathered from interviews and video clips of various idol groups (mostly tvxq w/yunho) the role of leaders seems to be to guide the group - monitor, make sure people do what they need to, give pep talks, maybe even express complaints as seungyeon's father is saying.

we won't know for sure what *all* the leaders' responsibilities are because 1) none of them seem to have ever talked about it in detail and 2) i doubt it's the same across the board for all companies.

i doubt they have any say when it comes to things like schedule, but if their responsibilities were really minimal and they were totally useless, i feel like some leaders wouldn't step down on account of it being too much, like taeyeon did.
