EASTERN SOUTH KOREA has been hit by its heaviest snowfall in 100 years, after over three feet (100cm) of snow fell in the east of the country at the weekend.
The Korea Times reports that the largest single-day snowfall since 1911 came down between Friday and Saturday.
Although dozens of greenhouses have been destroyed by the heavy snow and farmland damaged, the paper reports that the weather may help the country in its push to host the 2018 Winter Olympics.
An International Olympic Committee inspection team is due to arrive in the prospective host city of Pyeongchang today.
Thousands of soldiers have been deployed to clear the snow and army helicopters have been carrying supplies to isolated areas, the AFP reports. More snow is expected to fall later this week, causing further damage to property.
The snowfall comes after neighbouring North Korea recorded its coldest winter in over 25 years.

Yeah that snow here was insane...and even though it doesn't compare to SK it was probably just as destructive to traffic etc since no one knew what to do with the stuff or how to cope.

Date: 2011-02-14 11:30 pm (UTC)The white Christmas was lovely, I actually enjoyed having the snow because I've always missed it since I moved over from Scotland. I was torn between wanting it to go so everything could work properly again and wanting it so stay so I could enjoy it longer ;o)

Date: 2011-02-15 12:16 am (UTC)DBSK is my first love of kpop...not the first I encountered but definitely my first and greatest love ^^ Still a fan of all five boys and I've accepted their positions for now. Last year I got really into Beast but I also love MBLAQ, SHINee, 2PM, 2AM, CN Blue, BEG...and more. I have quite varied taste so I tend to enjoy a wide range of groups and singers ^^
What about you? I love your cute userpic of Jae and Onew...Onew is my favourite SHINee member!
