South Korea’s eastern coast has seen the strongest snowfall over the past 100 years.

A total of 110 centimeters of snow have fallen on the city of Samcheok and the rest of the Gangwon-do Province since Friday, local meteorological service says.

The last such snowfall on record was reported in 1911.

Snow drifts blocked the province’s main thoroughfares for 18 hours.

Bus and railway communication was disrupted, and hundreds of cars were stuck in the snow.

The snow caused roofs to cave in.

The authorities have asked the military to assist in the cleanup effort.

Jeebus 110 cm in one week? That's even a lot compared to where I live.

Where I live we got 3 feet in two days alone on top of the already piled up 4 feet. I feel bad for them, I love to look at snow but I hate it sometimes.

Ugh I know what that's like. They told us 2 feet one week, we wound up getting an inch that night. Then a few days later we got slammed with about 3 ft, then the next week another 2 ft, a day later a supposed 3 inches but it turned to freezing rain (making our sidewalk an icy death trap) and now we're supposed to get more this Monday and Tuesday -_- everyone was excited "Whoo snow!" Are they happy now? No. I thought not.

jesus, my city got 3-4 inches and everyone completely freaked out and the city shut down for 2 days until it got back up to 50 degrees and melted. if we ever got that much I think everyone would just explode from panic.

WINTER, ARE YOU QUITE FINISHED? because it's getting ridiculous.

I have a friend in Texas who told me the first time they got like an inch of snow it was widespread panic. She was outside, happy and dancing and everyone was driving like grandmothers on Sunday.

There's been a lot of roofs collapsing up here due to the weight of the snow. We're no stranger to snow up in New England but this year really has been brutal with the storms. I feel for South Korea. I hope things go back to normal soon for them! Winter can gtfo already.

Totally agree. Winter needs to leave ASAP.

My mom heard a crack in my roof the other night..its so scary. Its like "are you going to die in your sleep?"

Holy crap. Did you get that inspected? I've been eyeing the snow on my roof and thankfully we don't have too much. But I still get paranoid over all these roofs just caving in. D:

Okay so I'm not the only one thinking this year has been particularly nasty? So many friends have said: We live in New Hampshire. Get over it. Okay, I've lived here three years, but it's never been this nasty. 2 ft after 3 ft after 9000 ft? Done.

No way. I've lived in Massachusetts for a good part of my life and this has been one of the nastier winters I've ever experienced. Having maybe 1-2 major snow events is one thing but having significant storms almost every single week is ridiculous. :|

Me too. Born and raised there, 19 years of snow storms and through pictures and what my mother told me, even as a kid they would get high but this was ridiculous. And for what I know, Dedham got more than we did (they got all the snow when our 2 ft turned into an inch or so, and snow when we got rain). I hate to say it, but come on global WARMING. Live up to your name. I'd rather boil in my own sweat at this point than have to trudge the three blocks from the parking garage to my house in the blizzards.

We took it because we were secretly curious. You can have it back now, we're done being curious. :(

December? it was just last week Southern Ontario had a blizzard that closed all the roads off. My boss came in the next day and said he had to shovel his driveway 4 times.

Yeah, I keep explaining the whole calling in the military thing for people who didn't experience it - cuz they just didn't get it. That winter there was no more space to put the snow - I was shoveling over my shoulders.

Hope everyone keeps safe and warm - from what I've seen of how some of the roads/ terrains are ... I'm praying that there isn't a mini avalanche.
