4minute to represent Korea at “Billboard Japan Music Awards"; Plagiarized Choreo For Dance Battle

4minute has been chosen as the Korean representative for “Billboard Japan Music Awards 2010“!

According to the ceremony’s official homepage, 4minute will be attending the awards show on February 6th held at Tokyo’s Midtown as the only Korean singer invited. The girls were already chosen as the “talented rookies to dominate Asia” in January of 2010 by Billboard and were nicknamed as the “spotlighted rookies.”

Through Star News, representatives of Cube Entertainment revealed on February 5th, “4minute has been nominated for the the selection of the newest rising stars of K-POP this year. They’ll be giving impressive performances at the ceremony that will further garner interest from fans.”

4minute commented, “Being invited to such a worldwide event with other artists is such an honor. We’ll be doing our best to prepare an impressive stage.”

Meanwhile, the girls are currently preparing for their comeback album, “Why,” (scheduled for March 9th) and are focusing on their Japanese activities.

I thought it was known that most of the routines performed for all the dance battles so far are already existing choreographies? It's kind of MBC's fault in not putting all the proper credits.

The choreographers/instructors teaching the groups have never claimed to having created these choreographies - plus many are either recognizable or easily found online. *shrugs*

yeah pretty much THIS. unfortunately people from allkpop are harassing this choreographer on his twitter to do something about this 'plagiarism' so this will probably blow up into something where CUBE will have to release some sort of statement or state proper credits for the choreo..who knows...either way there's kpop for ya :/

Also, people who are saying that 4Minute suck compared to the original chereographers. For one, the chereographer probably didn't teach/show them with the exact amount of force and enthuse shown in the original chereo. There's a chance they've never even watched the video. To expect them to do the exact same dance is just wut lol idk, jussayin

I love these girls. But honestly I don't understand how people are so surprised at how bad Gayoon dances...she's kind of always been like this since debut. Most of the time she doesn't get any flack for it because she's got the vocals of the group. What does however surprise me lately is how Sohyun seems to be out-dancing Hyuna. Like I don't even know what's up with Hyuna lately but she needs to get it together.....

Whatever. I'm just happy that they're actually getting choreography upgrades and are doing them well. Jiyoon and Jihyun rocked it and even Hyunah didn't fall behind. I actually don't care much about all these "controversies" with stolen choreography or whatever, at the end of the day I'm pretty sure most of these choreographers are grateful for the exposure.

On the other hand though, I'm sure if I was the actual choreographer I may feel differently, but whatevas.
