"08 Super Junior ‘Bonamana'
Banning a boyband takes some doing but Chinese officials are more than capable of crushing such rebellion. The most recent song on our poll is one of a handful from the 13-strong South Korean act to be blacklisted by the nation's rather strict Ministry of Culture earlier this month. It is now illegal to buy, download or listen to the song, despite it being about as dangerous to know as a Labrador puppy."
Source Yahoo Music lists songs that you wouldn't expect got banned from the radio. Check it, SuJu up there with Olivia N-J, Pink Floyd and all ~the greats!
ETA : (way after the fact)
*SIGH* I've been asked to edit this to say that China aren't the big bad guys who hate our beautiful innocent Korean boybands and, as a load of people have already mentioned in the comments, that this whole thing was SME's fault (which, hello? surprises no one). It all happened weeks ago anyway. I'm not dissing China, until last October that was where I called home.
My point here (and yes, I made this post before AKP did) was HEY LOOK! AN AMERICAN MUSIC SITE IS INCLUDING SUJU IN AN ARTICLE WITH BIG FAMOUS WESTERN
BANDS.
Sorry if I didn't shout it in bold before. *whinge whinge sigh etc* Lets just stare at the pic of the Donger and feel zen shall we? /pc drama

To me there is no difference?

Date: 2011-01-24 12:11 am (UTC)Super Junior songs ‘Bonamana’, ‘No Other’, ‘All My Heart’, and ‘Short Journey’ have been banned from online distribution by China’s Ministry of Culture. On the Chinese government’s official website, the ministry released a list of the now illegal songs and stated that the listed songs were not “filed and reviewed” par the government’s rules to ensure that the song is legal for distribution. Whether it is buying the song from online music outlets, downloading from a secondary source or listening to the song online, distribution and downloading of these songs is now illegal.
Banned because they weren't filed and reviewed, and it's not that listening to it if you physically bought the CD is illegal, just downloading it from the internet or streaming it.

3.Why am I even trying to understand China's reasoning? No one except China, understands China.
