Teenager IU is undisputedly one of the hottest singers of the moment. The 18-year-old high-school student's real name is Lee Ji-eun, but her management agency gave her a stage name "IU," meaning "I and You become one through music," she says.

"I've given dozens of interviews since the release of my latest album in December.  I'm so busy that I don't even have time to whine. I haven't been able to sleep for nearly four days, but I can sustain myself with the moments of fun I get," she says.

Her formal musical education ended in fifth grade when she completed Czerny's 50 etudes for piano. But she wanted to sing so much that she started going to auditions when she was in her second year in middle school. After about 20 failed auditions, one management agency was finally interested.

IU made a debut in 2009 when she was in her third year of middle school, after 10 months of preparation. "When I went to auditions, I thought that maybe I'd be a member of a girl group and make my debut after three or four years of practice," she says. "I feel that perhaps my debut came too quickly. But I don't think I became an overnight star, because it took me three years to get here."

She tremendously enjoys shooting the teenage drama "Dream High" currently airing on KBS2 TV and appearing on entertainment shows. "I love being a solo artist because I get the camera all to myself, and wear pretty clothes alone. But I would love to be as beautiful as the members of girl groups," she says. "There are so many things I want to do, so I don't know what will happen. Right now, I just want to do my best in anything I do."

I think when she says 'have been up for 4 days' she means actually lying down in bed. Probably doesn't count the naps she takes during makeup sessions/during travelling (guessing...after reading that post with Secret's daily lives).
