Sandara Park leaves a message for her Filipino fans!

While on break from 2NE1's activities, Sandara Park paid a visit to some friends here in the Philippines. Though she was not able to go to any television shows or do any interviews, she still managed to leave a super sweet message for her Filipino fans.

Message translated from Filipino-Taglish to English by Fangirldiaries.com.

how does filipino work? do they just insert english into sentences randomly? like how puerto rican spanish is?

You mean Tagalog (Filipino language) ^^
We don't randomly insert English words in our sentences, English is the second most used language in the Philippines and as we have some Tagalog words that are easier to say in English than in our native tongue, we've kinda adapted that, thus making it TagLish.

Though as idk how Puerto Rican's spanish is so, I cannot really tell the difference.

oh ok. it sounds kind of similar to how some puerto ricans speak spanish. english is an official language of puerto rico (as is spanish), so they'll often start sentences in spanish and end them in english, or use english nouns in spanish sentences and stuff.

You guys speak English like you would speak Tagalog, though. It's like your own dialect because you enunciate words differently. Puerto Rican Spanish is basically the same except it's a bastardization of Spanish and I can't tell for shit what they are saying sometimes and I'm a fluent Spanish speaker.

Tagalog is not exactly Filipino. It's hard to explain, but Tagalog is the one spoken by most people in Tagalog areas, but Filipino refers to an assimilation of the different languages in the country, like Bicolano, Waray, Cebuano, etc etc. Although it isn't explicitly seen in our language though, as Tagalog comprises the majority of our words.

Not at random, but more of code-switching (using English words and incorporating it into Filipino grammar). For instance, "magda-drive" (about to drive) or "nagsisipag-shoppingan" (going on a shopping spree together).

Seriously though, when I first saw SCQ, from someone who barely understood Tagalog and did not know how to speak it, I'm just so surprised at how well she speaks Tagalog. Took her a year or 2 to finally become fluent. Hence I'm kind of looking forward to how well she's going to do Japanese now that they're debuting there also.
