After it was discovered that American pop culture store Hot Topic was selling unauthorized Kpop albums with false covers on their website, fans contacted the store asking for an explanation of the situation.
As they were sent many emails regarding the matter, the store decided to issue an explanation via email to those who asked for it:
Hi guys, thanks for all your emails…
It has recently been brought to our attention that some unauthorized
Korean pop music MP3s were available for purchase on Hottopic.com.
We just wanted to let you know that these MP3s were uploaded to our
website through one of the many digital music distributors we partner
with. We have notified this distributor of their error and asked that
they immediately correct the problem.
In the meantime, we have removed these MP3s from Hottopic.com.
Please accept our apologies, and thanks for letting us know!
