"Gold Disc Awards" Best New Artists, SNSD & KARA

Korean power dominated the “25th Japan Gold Disc Awards = January 5th” for the best new artists. In the Japanese music category SNSD won the “New Artist of the Year” and KARA won the same award in the western music category. KARA sent a delightful Japanese message through video, “We’re really happy. We’ll continue to do our best this year.”

The best 5 artists who were nominated for the New Artist of the Year award are as follows. The Japanese music cateogory: WEVERA, Kitano Kii, KG, SNSD, and miwa. In the Western music category: ORIANTHI, KARA and KE$HA.

From what I read RIAJ counted til end of October so top seller would be SNSD's Gee (Japanese) and KARA's Best Album (Korean). So SNSD won best new artist (Japanese) and KARA won it (International, which is often Western).

Remember that BusinessJapan article from September from the UMJ Ceo, and how he said Soshi would provide more of a foreign, western appeal while Kara caters more to the familiar domestic market? Though the results were kind of backwards, I'm feeling that they're going with that idea.
