Actor Choi ChulHo Reflects on Drunk Violence Scandal, “I Want To Live Peacefully”

Last May proved to be a life changing time in actor Choi ChulHo‘s life as he was caught hitting a woman by a surveillance camera. Having apologized and reflected on his great mistake, the actor hopes to live peacefully as he makes changes in his life.

Choi ChulHo was caught in a scandal as it was revealed that he had hit a woman while in a drunken state. His image was greatly affected after the actor tried to cover up the situation with lies, but the truth was exposed through a surveillance camera. Ever since having withdrawn from the MBC drama, Dong Yi, Choi ChulHo has kept to himself, but has now given in to news reporters as he talks to them about his current life. “At this time in my life I am working on quitting alcohol and smoking, I really want to move towards leading a new life for the sake of my family,” he shared.

The actor also spoke more about his initial lies to cover up his scandal, “During that time, [the lie] was told in the spur of a moment, because of that, these are the consequences. I sincerely feel apologetic for my mistakes.” Although the scandal hit his popularity and career, Choi ChulHo feels his family has suffered more, “To be completely honest, my wife (Kim HyeSuk) is the one who is suffering more than me, but she is constantly guiding me to life with each other’s trust. It’s her warm comfort that gave me the most support.”

Meanwhile, Choi ChulHo has volunteered at many local non-profit organizations in order to help him reflect on his mistakes and quit alcohol and his smoking habit. On whether he would make an acting comeback, he revealed, “I just want to lead a quiet and peaceful life and become a better person. Right now I don’t have any specific plans.”

He is not the greatest actor but he was cute in The Woman Who Still Wants to Marry. And I loved Queen of Housewives.

Shame on him for trying to blame alcohol -- you hit a woman, the alcohol didn't magically make you violent.

idk alcohol can mess with your decision making abilities or control? That's why people do all types of things while drunk, not saying it's okay but I think the alcohol played a part.

I'm glad that he's quit drinking (and smoking) and is doing community service. Of course your fam would suffer more, i hope his family is doing better. :( if he hit some random woman then he probably hit his wife too.
