Debuted more than a year, news of After School advancing into Japan has already surfaced.

The company of Morning Musume, who sang the theme song ‘Dream Girl’ to the recent Korean-Japanese audition show ‘Great Tokyo Girls’, has seeked interests to remake Morning Musume’s ‘Love Machine’ and to work with After School.

The composer-cum-producer to Morning Musume’s ‘Love Machine’ has also likings to the group ‘After School’ after listening to their hit songs ‘Ah’ and ‘Diva’. The company had went to meet After School personally during the girls’ recording of ‘Dream Girl’.

The representative of the company said, “Though nothing much has been confirmed, we talked about advancing into the Japanese morning. We are looking forward to have yet another Korean group making it big in Japan like Dong Bang Shin Ki and SS501 etc.”

The audition show will be aired from 22nd May.

they really don't seem like they've become that well-known... plus their concept/image doesn't seem to have had the impact they intended it to have...

WORD. Their fanbase isn't even stable yet what with the new UEE addition. Grow their fanbase and become much much much bigger before expanding.

god, srsly. as much as i love all these groups can they please stop setting themselves up for failure? like. it'll take more than just good looks to do well in the industry and if you don't have the kind of experience and determination that a group like DBSK (and to an extent, SS501 & even BB) has, you're not going to really make a name for yourself in a market as big as japan's. :|

Japan's market is sooooo big. They must think it's really easy to be successful in that market or something, especially when they don't know the language.
But then again, I can't see why Japan is so appealing. People actually buy CDs over there, lmao.

ikr the korean music scene should focus on expanding itself rather than trying to join japans.

As a comparison, CSJH was sent to Japan 7 months after their Korean debut, so yeah.. 'sigh'

true. but it seems like sm ent made a concerned effort to make them big in japan more so than korea. aren't they pretty proficient in japanese and all that? plus, i don't think sm promotes csjh in korea at all in order to lessen the competition for snsd.

Well right now they are, but it seemed like SM already had the intention of shipping CSJH to Japan when creating the group. That was way before SNSD was created.
I'm not familiar with what else was going on back then, but it seemed like SM was rushing CSJH's move to Japan. Even DBSK spent over a year in Korea before leaving Korea.

My theory is that CSJH didn't become popular in K-Pop until late into their career. It took them what, three/four singles? Their album was released soooooo much later after their first single too. :(

ita. it's such a gamble to try to break into the japanese market... even though there's a potential to make it big and make bank over there, it's just not that common. they're way more likely to lose a lot of money.

totally. it's a tough grind out there. even in korea it's difficult. there are so many girl groups to compete with. i'd like to see more korean success from them to begin with.

even hbic lee hyori isn't breaking into new mkts. dbsk had to sacrifice a lot to make it over there. this isn't a realistic goal for them yet.

i'd much rather have them in japan tbh. even if i like their korea stuff better. in korea, they're still viewed as idols. in japan, it's different, they're practically viewed as a merge between the gospellers and SMAP. korea's market is so small right now, even if other groups were given more exposure, so what? it's not making as much money as TVXQ is in japan.

I still view Tohoshinki as idols in a sense of their merchandise sales, but idols with singing talent most definitely.

But yes, I like DBSK in Korea but I think them in Japan is very interesting too.

I'm worried that Big Bang might fail in Japan, though they're super popular in Korea, so After School going to Japan really doesn't make sense to me O_O

Why dont they just debut everyone in japan now and stop even thinking about korea... eeesh.

lulz. i think everyone would if hallyu was stronger. it's all $$$ in a big mkt like that. hell, if they could debut everyone in america they would.

just imagine SHINee wearing those masks on good morning america or suju crowding the stage on dave letterman... and heechul doing the top ten or something.

Ha oh man two of my fandoms colliding again. Maybe them going to Japan would be OK, but not with UFA. I still listen to H!P and other UFA artists, but I don't think they "get" real pop music. They know idol music and that's it.

plz not Morning Musume songs~ i listened to "Dream Girl" & it's horrible (>_<)..
besides After School doesn't look Morning Musume-like..AS looks are mature, not so girlish
hopefully if they really gonna debut in Japan they won't sing MM or Tamaki Namie-like songs (*_*)...

Why they always start internalization from Japan? Why not from Europe?
