The cast of KBS2 hit drama Boys Before Flowers are over-worked and very tired. Lead actors Lee Min-ho (Gu Jun-pyo) and Kim Hyun-joong (Yu Ji-hoo) have dropped 8kgs and 6kgs respectively from their normal weight. With an impossible filming schedule and various other promotional activities the boys are burnt out.

In the recent F4 Special Talk Show that was aired on 02 March, Lee Min-ho said that on a good day, they get about 2 - 3 hours sleep a night!

Lee Min-ho : "We get about 2 to 3 hours of sleep in a good night. When shooting is tight, we have to get by on one or two hours, finishing one night’s shoot and jumping straight into the next day’s."
With tight deadlines to meet, sleep and proper meal times is difficult. This resulted in drastic weight-loss for Lee Min-ho and Kim Hyun-joong. Both the actors' management companies are alarmed because of this -- the boys have insufficient rest and their nutrition intake is questionable.

Lead actress Gu Hye-sun (Geum Jan-di) is also having difficulties with the rigorous schedule. Moreover, she has been experiencing "accidents" such as knocking her head at the bottom of the pool while filming a diving scene, and meeting with a car accident (not minor as reported!) which resulted in a delay in airing episode 17. She is also suffering from fatigue due to insufficient rest.

However, all the hard work the cast and crew put into this drama is not all in vain. Fans are adoring it and the drama is a big hit in Korea and other parts of the world.

Malaysians tune in to Boys Before Flowers on KBS World (Astro channel 303) on Mondays - Tuesdays at 9pm. Re-runs on Sundays, 12:10 - 2:30pm.

If they're so alarmed, maybe they should let them have breaks instead of making them do cfs whenever they aren't shooting the drama?

Poor bbs, at least the drama shooting is almost done.

They really need to give the actors a break. As much as we love the show it's not like we'd go crazy if they took a week off from filming. :/

They deserve some time off to rest. Especially after all the stuff that's happened lately. It says in the article the management companies are alarmed, but they don't seem very alarmed if they aren't doing something about the actors being so out of it.

Yes. Hyunjoong's weight loss is SUPER obvious. He's like a bag of bones now :(

I'm guessing the water is cold and that the box commentary says his nipples are hard? I don't know. And I'm saving this.

I think HyunJoong really LOOKS like he lost weight. And since they keep doing closeups of him, you can see the bags under his eyes :(

(That gif is lols -- so pleased with himself at eating uncooked ramyun :p)

Such phenomena is not unusual for K-celebs. The Korean entertainment industry should find ways to not let things like these happen again (how many times have we heard about actors collapsing because of fatigue? Being hospitalized because of various things all related to stress and overwork? Waaaayyyy too often). I really don't get why they don't film with a more human pace? It's not difficult, imho and they'd get better results for everyone. True, it may be slightly more expensive, but the overall result would be better for anyone: for the actors who wouldn't be near exhaustion all the time would be able to focus more and give even more outstanding performances, etc.

Poor bbs, seriously. Is it usual over there to dish out two episodes a week?
