Avex dropped JYJ because of SNSD?

On September 27th, a news article by Japan’s Asahi News, titled, “DBSK’s comeback potential“, speculated that Avex dropped promotional activities on JYJ because the contract with JYJ hindered Avex’s recruitment of other Korean stars. The article specified, Avex supported JYJ but this caused breakage between Avex and SM Ent. where the latter signed SNSD with Universal.
In summery, Aera, the author of the article, postulates that Avex split with JYJ as an act of submission to SM Entertainment and other Korean entertainment corporations.
Aera wrote, “It is commonly accepted in Korea that companies spend millions to train and promote artists from their early childhood. Korea’s entertainment business finds it inevitable that contracts must be of a certain length to guarantee profit. JYJ’s split from SM through legal proceeds put a huge scratch on the face of SM and Korea’s business. When Avex salvaged JYJ, it was a direct confrontation with SM.”
“When SNSD and Kara signed under Universal and 2Pm followed up with Sony, Avex had to consider the lack of fresh Korean recruitment. In the end, they opted to drop the immediately but minimally profitable JYJ for a chance to sign the new generation’s ‘DBSK’.”
Aera continued, “Just like in Korea, where fame is but an overinflated bubble, when DBSK broke up, their fame took a massive hit. Even in Japan, JYJ’s activities drew negatives comments such as, ‘money hungry dogs”, and other severe criticisms“.

Aera concluded by questioning whether JYJ has a bright future ahead.

I find it interesting how you don't realize that the true hurt one in this article is SNSD.

Allkpop isn't insulting DBSK at all, why it's praising it by saying it was like a second Shinhwa. The "money hungry dogs" isn't a comment by Allkpop, it's a comment by people. I know because I have korean friends who call JYJ that now.

Please don't take this argument as a shouting or something of the sort against you, I'm just stating what looks pretty clear to me cause it seems you didn't read the article properly.

the misleading title is a little dramatic and is meant to rile up the masses but the substance unfortunately there.

SM have shinee, snsd & FX who have all done well in Korea, and have potential in Japan. I think honestly Avex realised that after how well SNSD's debut went in Japan that they needed to realign themselves with SM to ensure they will have ready access to the next generation of Kpop stars that need to debut in Japan.

I really think JYJ did the wrong thing by signing with another management agency. They shouldve just operated like they do in the US retain their own managers but sign with a major label.

Didn't they sign with - fuck I forget the word - with PR agency, not with management agency? Because they're still tied with SM so I doubt they could even sign with management agency. Or something, correct me if I'm wrong. And it was avex who introduced the boys to the agency they work with in Korea. Idk.

Hey thanks Allkpop, you just made all my anti-SNSD friends, who by the way are Cassies, rage for no reason because apparently when it comes to JYJ/DBSK they loose their sense of logic and are taking the entire article's true meaning for granted simply due to the title.

I'm really pissed off at how Allkpop is just feeding off the SNSD hate through this title. The article says nothing of that, and just seeing all the hate comments is ridiculous.

Thanks for that mature comment. I can see omonians' reactions are far better. That's why I totally moved from AKP although the amount of news is lesser.

SNSD is definitely the one who's hurt from this article. They r barely mentioned here. Using SNSD's name to generate comments is AKP's daily bread. One can see that SNSD's articles have so many comments. AKP just likes sabotaging SM artists' news as well as YG's or just provoking fans of the 2 companies. This started after they became commercialized n affiliated to JYPE.

Lol. Maybe they lost some of their fame, but I've not seen any JYJ hatin' over here. When I went to buy their Dome concert DVD I had to wade through highschool girls to get to the display, and that was just at my tiny, crappy, local Tower Records - three days AFTER the release date.

THSK still has a huge fanbase in japan, but if we stay in the safe confines of bigeast, then everything's pretty. but there are plenty in the general populace who don't care for them and do have a negative opinion before and even now especially with the recent issues.

i have had people saying, "やだ！" whether to my face or whispered to their own friends when they hear i fangirl THSK...but i am usually w/e when that happens. :)

SNSD barely is mentioned, they don't really have to do with the whole trouble.

What Avex does with JYJ doesn't have necessarily to do with any other SM artists, but with the company and the company's head.
