well, they're not official because the only ones who can name stars are the IAU, but lots of people have been "purchasing" stars as presents for their loved ones. Like, you go walking at night, stop, point at the sky and tell your gf/bf 'ooooh lookie that's our star' and they're like 'aaaaw you're so romantic' and shit.
