ye, seoul is quite depressing about it: 99% girls wearing skinny jeans,oversized hoodie, wayfarers, baseball cap and flashy sneakers plus cleaopatra hair ... it's like a uniform.
i was surprised because the styles on tv are quite interesting and different from japanese /seem more influenced by western/ but you won't see it on streets.
at least the college girl students are a bit more dressed-up, but then they go toward the opposite side of the spectrum and dress all the same still, but WAY too old and stuffy. ~princess style~ with heels 24/7 lol
i was told by a person who knows some rich koreans that they are superb fashionistas but i don't go around such company so ...
actually good brands /dior homme,belgians etc/ are more expensive in korea than japan! i read there is a big illegal replica business in seoul /thunder wore fake dior once/ but one needs some connection to find such stuff.
omg it's totally true. i think there's just a bigger consumer market for it in japan, plus it's just really hard to obtain in korea (therefore is even more of a ~status~ marker). it's why my cousin asked me to buy her that one chanel clutch bag from an outlet somewhere to bring back next time i visit, because everything european/designer is a good $500-1K cheaper in america than anywhere in korea :OOO
gurl u don't need that good of connections!! just go to the lowest/underground floor of a building in dongdaemun and ask the seller if they have anything in stock that's not...hanging up on display... with a ㅎㅎㅎ for extra shadiness

but i mean really good brands, not lv but Ann Demeulemeester or rick owens- i suppose there must be some special place for such items because it can't be that popular

fashion is an interest/hobby that is REALLY reserved to only the wealthy/upper-class in korea. like that goes for anywhere in the world but especially so in korea, it sucks :c but it's interesting to watch it grow as the world gets smaller and smaller and more connected through the internet and such.
this is making me ache all over. even everything they're saying and describing, totally hitting the nail on the head
