I dunno, I always thought the Koreans were really prideful about kpop---if it's popular here, it'll obviously be amazing for these other people. We won't even bother with pronunciation, we are so confident. I know a bunch of Japanese music fans do not appreciate bad Japanese, no matter how blitzy the song is.

And also, I heard that Japanese is easier for Koreans to pick up than say Mandarin/Cantonese/Thai :P

i hate it when companies just translate their korean songs into japanese; both japan and korea have different tastes and it just seems lazy imo.

oh well, i love them so i hope they do well. o/
if they're going to debut in august i guess that means they'll be competing with snsd?

because they will not be successful. If a "popular" group like big bang can't even beat flops like morning musume (i love the girls, but...) the future for groups like BEG are extremely bleak in the japanese market.

sure they might be getting a little more money with this debut, but there's the huge risk of ruining their Korean careers and in the grand scheme of things it just isn't worth it imo

I agree, unless they really invest their time to stay and get to to know the culture and a different playing field, the general Japanese public will not give them the time of day.

The only Korean singer that really reined top of the charts was BoA. DBSK was doing well, very well in fact. But Arashi and KAT-TUN were still ahead of them. Big Bang, I am not so sure of. YG Marketing kind of fails.

ahaha I kept messing up my post, but yay! can't wait to see how they'll do in Japan. There's so many groups trying to do it (and even though it's a 'translated' song) but I always thought that Abracadabra could possibly do well there.

People that make you switch the channel when you see them on TV?
01 – Kim Yu-Na (43.2%)
02 – Any South Korean celebrity (06.7%)

hmmmmmm why do I feel Japan does not like korean artists as much as we think /:
I still want for them to do great though :D

The Koreans and the Japanese have a long history of animosity. It started when Korea was still linked to China and was forcibly annexed by Japan. That didn't tide over too well :P

So now, even though the modern day people try to be cordial, there might be subconscious dislike for the other nationality because of heritage/environment/history.

I have no idea why so many kpop acts are jumping ship to Japan, especially since nobody is making that big of waves. >>;

Oh great more awkward Japanese. :|

If they must (well they kind are now huh...) please practice on pronunciation and culture skills. Try seem like you care to learn more about the Japanese culture and not like other kpop acts that merely horribly translate their stuff for some more sales. It'll help you stand out. It worked for BoA and DBSK. Big Bang I'm not so sure yet.

I love BEG but I rather them stay in Korea and do rnb songs like the stuff on their first album.

TBH considering age of most BEG members I think they should just stick to Korea and try to develop their group and solo careers there, because it takes years to get big in Japan (if it even ever happens). Have some concerts in Korea and few other Asian countries or something, because it's the concerts where the real money is (unless you are a songwriter).

Ugh, so many Koreans going there. One day Japan will seriously get pissed off. Okay, maybe BoA and DBSK made it there, but how many Korean celebs were in Japan at that time? And it's still not easy for them. I mean, ICONIQ's album sold pretty well, but she still had to deal with a lot of hate from Japanese. Isn't that a sign (dot dot dot dot dot) that Japanese are slowly getting tired of Koreans? Idk, I wish them luck and all, but when I'm watching some Jap music charts and I see that 20% of it are Koreans, I'm kinda "dnw".

When will these Korean companies learn that an over saturation of Korean artists in the Japanese market is just going to lead to backlash? SM had it right when the debuted BoA and DBSK early.

Not sure how I feel about this... But good luck to them.
