Wonder Girl’s Sun Ye’s Father Passes Away

Back in October of last year, Sun Ye’s father was rushed to an intensive care unit after he turned for the worse from a long-term illness. Flying immediately from New York to South Korea, Sun Ye was able to visit him through those tough times. It was reporter earlier this morning that Sun Ye’s father passed away.

 

After her mother passed away, a young Sun Ye was taken care of by her grandparents because her father suffered from a health condition that kept him bedridden almost all of the time. In the midst of beginning their promotions for ‘Tell Me’, Sun Ye got the news that her grandfather had passed away, he never got the chance to see her granddaughter’s comeback.

While studying English in New York and preparing for their future activities in the United States, Sun Ye received word that her father had stopped breathing and was rushed to the hospital. Taking the first flight from New York, Sun Ye was able to visit her father and watch for him. After missing promotional events, such as the Justice fan meet and greet, Sun Ye explained the reason for her absence.

“My father was suffering from a long-term illness and few months ago, he was rushed to the hospital when it suddenly worsened. Upon hearing the news, I immediately flew from New York to Korea to visit my father, and it so happened that other members were to return to Korea after a week in order to attend an event set up in Korea. I watched after my father for a week and thankfully he got better, so after consulting his doctor I was able to attend the scheduled event. He had the illness for almost 20 years, and it wasn’t something that could be dealt with immediately, so after seeing that he got better, I could settle my mind and return to performing.”

Now, Sun Ye has received grieving news on the morning of the 24th of June (Korea time) that her father passed away from the chronic illness he had been suffering from for 20 years. Her father is currently being kept at the funeral home in Seoul Asan General Hospital and will be buried on the 26th.

A close friend of Sun Ye revealed, “After fighting his illness for several years, Sunye’s father has passed away. At the death of her father, Sunye is going through an unexplainable amount of pain and sadness.”

the strain on her whole family these past 20 years can't have been easy to bear, and yet she keeps soldiering on and adding more burdens. i hope she can grieve properly, rest up, and then do whatever she feels she has the responsibility to do. i know you can stay strong, sunye, but it's okay to cry too ㅠㅠ

Poor girl... she's basically an orphan now. :( Hopefully any remaining family she has as well as her WG sisters and other friends will be able to support in this time.

Even if you haven't lost someone yourself, it's always heartbreaking watching someone close to you lose someone dear to them. One of my close friends lost her grandfather a few days ago on the morning of Father's Day. They were planning to surprise him and take him home (he had been in the hospital for a few weeks) that same day... unfortunately they were too late. It broke my heart listening to her crying over the phone once I called her as soon as I got the news. I went to the funerals today :(
