Suju Start an Online War
2010-06-10 10:22 pmUh oh. Super Junior is in the middle of an internet war – and perhaps an international kerfluffle.

The fan war began online on Wednesday around 7 p.m. between Chinese Super Junior fans and Chinese anti-fans. Many Chinese Web sites were spammed with posts reading “69 (June 9th) Holy War,” that also criticized the group and its fans.
‘One post said, “As long as pointed heads exist, the holy war will continue.” “Pointed heads” refer to Chinese who are fanatical about foreign pop stars.’
Other posts said, “Get lost, Super Junior!” and “Get lost, pointed heads!”
The group’s Chinese fans fought back, however, with posts such as, “You are pointed heads,” and, “Regardless of whether we are Koreans or not, we like Super Junior.”
You can see where this is going. The Chinese portal Baidu, was also slammed with slanderous posts.
This comes from a misunderstanding over the Korean Music Festival. held May 30 at the Korean Center of the Shanghai World Expo, at which Super Junior performed.
Many Chinese gathered to receive free tickets, but the expo’s organizing committee significantly reduced the number of the tickets. When people protested, the committee stopped distribution altogether.
Police were dispatched when the protest grew, but a Hong Kong newspaper made a false report that one person was crushed to death. Staff members at the Korean Center claimed no fault in the incident.
Chinese netizens are attacking Super Junior due to rumors Korea reduced the number of free tickets. This incident forced the cancellation of a performance by Japanese pop group SMAP at the Japanese Center, which did no go over well with its fans.
The whole crazy/silly situation is supposedly fanning anti-Korea sentiment in China as Chinese netizens continue the slander war against fans of foreign pop stars.
An official at the Korean Embassy in Beijing says they are “closely watching the situation.”
I’ll just get in my bunker now….

Direct translations sound silly.
"69 Holy War" is an oxymoronic phrase.
Jesus...xenophobia.

Date: 2010-06-11 03:52 am (UTC)And how is it ever an artist's fault? The blame should be put on the organizers, not the artists themselves.
P.S. Don't visit their official website for a while
"According to Kyuhyun's fancafe, a Chinese group who is anti Hallyu will release a hacking virus at Super Junior's official Website. They blame Super Junior for the incident that happened in Shanghai Expo instead of blaming the people who held the event. So, as a result, they will release a hacking virus at Baidu website and Super Junior's official website. This virus will hack into any computers that visits both websites. So, do not visit both websites for awhile since the hackers will continue to release viruses.
