As the leading creator of Asia's biggest superstars, JYP Entertainment brings you their next biggest phenomenon, Wonder Girls. The Wonder Girls, five female teenage sensations hailing from the east as music royalty, is finally making their highly anticipated new single "2 Different Tears."
The Wonder Girls were featured on Virgin Media as one of the top 8 girls groups to watch in the world, along with the Pussycat Dolls, Girls Aloud and Danity Kane. Most recently, they were featured in People Magazine (April 2009) as one of the "leading Asian pop stars to cross over to the states."
The US audience got a sneak preview of the Wonder Girls in 2008 when the #1 entertainment blogger in the US, Perez Hilton featured not one, but two of their hit music videos on his blog site. Perez Hilton says, "So fab…we loves it!"
The Wonder Girls have accrued 3 no. 1 hit songs in Asia within the last two years, each having won an unprecedented amount of awards and digital downloads. They also have accrued over 20 endorsement deals with major brands such as Samsung and Baskin-Robbins.
March 2009 will have marked the Wonder Girls' "The 1st Wonder" Tour, which included 3 US cities including New York, Orange County and Los Angeles, and 3 Asian cities such as Thailand, Seoul & Busan. This tour proved the Wonder Girls' status as an international force to be reckoned with, supported by a massive global fan base.
Also during the summer of 2009, Wonder Girls opened for Jonas Brothers on 45 of their highly successful "Jonas Brothers World Tour" shows.
This summer, the Wonder Girls are once again coming near you with their own 28-city "Wonder Girls World Tour" presented by Live Nation!
Are you prepared to heat up the summer with the Wonder Girls??
In other news, Olympic figure skater Mao Asada (Japan) danced to "Nobody" a few days ago at the Hyundai Card Super Match X - Medalist on Ice show in Seoul.
Here's a clip of her program with "Nobody" at the end (starts at ~2:07):

Date: 2010-06-09 10:22 pm (UTC)Plus, whenever he posts a KPOP video on his site, most of the comments are negative. He obviously hasn't been able to get the people that come to his site to like the Wonder Girls.
I don't consider posting a video or two up, influencing anyone.

Date: 2010-06-09 10:25 pm (UTC)Exactly. He doesn't influence anything. And about him having power of what gets put on the radio, I don't know anyone who listens to the radio to find the hottest artist anymore.

Date: 2010-06-09 11:01 pm (UTC)i doubt people who have never listened to kpop know or really care about them. Hmm, not necessarily. I actually have friends that don't give a shit about Asian music (and these are Asians themselves lol) and yet I just told one of them I was going to a Wonder Girls concert and he was like, "Oh THOSE girls. Nobody nobody but you? *clap clap*?" And I had no idea where that came from... Also, if you look at the reviews of the Jonas concert on Ticketmaster, you can see a lot of the concert-goers (the ones that came for Jonas Bros. only) said positive things about WG.
I think "lasting" is a subjective word. I don't think they'll ever be as mega-famous as Beyonce or Gaga or even Shakira, but I think they have it in them to enjoy a moderate level of success (maybe indie-level like Feist or She & Him) and be representative of their country/continent. All with time.

Date: 2010-06-10 07:24 am (UTC)They just need someone influential enough to pick them up and support them.
ia But hopefully news sources will stop looking to Perez. That man's entire existence vexes me greatly. Shows like Ellen, SYTYCD, and this is a stretch but MTV would be great ways to get their names out there. I would say give them a diary type show for MTV. I would say go back to the Wendy Williams show as well. Sometimes it's best to work with people you worked with you before. They just really need something to show their personalities I think.
idk idk I just want to see them actually promote 2DT. Not just concerts. I was overly ecstatic when Rain was on my screen. Even though people had no idea who he was it just opens another door and people question. That's all it takes.
