“You Still My NO.1! 🥇” is a poll series and promoted singles discussion for female artists! It’ll be for girl groups with some solo artists sprinkled in (like BoA, who inspired the title!).

✨ For our previous entry for BLACKPINK, Playing With Fire takes the lead as Omona’s top song! If you haven’t voted feel free to do so as the polls stay open :)

✨ Our next entry is 2NE1! In the comments share your favorite songs overall, but for the poll itself it will be more challenging as you must narrow it down to one. Easy for those who absolutely know their favorite, harder for those with multiple favorites! But that’s why you can still share the rest in the comments :) Let’s see which track is Omona’s no.1!

🌟🌟🌟 The Poll🌟🌟🌟

[Poll #2117004]

* Other includes their songs Hate You, Missing You, their goodbye song, and anything else not listed under their discography wiki page as a title.

Another one that is easy for me to vote in just by nature of my not generally enjoying the music from YG. I Am The Best is iconic tho. I do remember listening to Can't Nobody a fair bit when it came out too and that it was the first kpop song with an English version that I actually enjoyed too!

i voted "other" because missing you is so amazing, i still remember where i was sitting when listening to it for the first time.

this is DEVASTATING to choose from!

I adore 'it Hurts' , Lonely & Go away for its emotion, 'I love you' for it being a living look book and 'Falling in Love' for being THE summer moment/song (and a great video except for that random bit of Dara in that indian jewelry??)

Had to go with the classic "Can't Nobody." "It hurts" is another. Love all their music so it was hard to choose.

i don't listen to their music a lot but i do still really enjoy their titles i love you, do you love me, come back home and it's gotta be you. i think my fave title of their was crush — loved it when it came out but i think it's originally a japanese release? they did promote it in korean as well

From: [identity profile] adenar.livejournal.com
Crush wasn't originally a japanese release, but they included a Korean version of Scream on the album which was originally japanese :)

oooh thanks! for some reason i thought it was a japanese only release because i remember looking for the korean mv and could only find a japanese one?

yes! crush was co-promoted with Come Back Home but it was never a single in Korea, so it never good a music video (boo). When they released the jp version of Crush, they chose the title track as their lead single over there instead.

i love you is my fav! 2ne1 were my first kpop group ever... i obsessed over their music so much, they became basically the only artist i listened to for an entire year. which is crazy bc they have a pretty small discography.

i remember loving i love you so much, when i saw a description of it that said it was inspired by trot music i was like "oh wow, i need to look up this trot thing." it was... not what i expected haha

I like a lot of their titles, but there's just something about "I Love You" that tickles my brain just right, so that's my pick:-)

I only got into 2ne1 with It Hurts, and missed out on appreciating their earlier songs. but I actually prefer 2ne1's slower songs, so Lonely it is for me!

IATB was such a noisy song that I hated when it was released, but I appreciate it now. 2ne1 had many bangers and I guess what I enjoyed was being able to party to it and watching them sell the image/songs. newer groups could never emulate it

It was a hard choice between I'm the best and I don't Care. I'm the best won in the end, because it's just so iconic. I remember the day it came out so so so well. I was so hooked on it.

Been a fan since debut pretty much. Was a huge big bang fan, so of course I was excited when YG debuted a girl group and for a little bit they were pretty much on pair with snsd for me. I don't think 2ne1's sound has ages that well and while they certainly have a place in my 2nd gen heart and everything about 2ne1 feels so nostalgic I don't listen to them that much anymore. But I often return to I don't care, fire and I'm the best and also their last full album before they vanished. Crush was such a solid album. At least they left us with something good.

2NE1 holds a special place in my heart as they were one of the first groups i got into when discovering kpop.
Can't Nobody was the 1st song i listened to, but i voted for I am the Best, cause it just rock out to that song.

close favorites:
Can't Nobody
I Love You
Come Back Home
Hate You
Lonely

Oh 2NE1!!! This is hard, they were my first loves in Kpop, the first girl group I really listened to (back when I listened mostly to boy groups... can you believe it... lmao) and bought albums from.

I love the confidence they exuded on stage. They also had a very specific identity, from their style (weird fashion choices like their whole Jeremy Scott's era, Bom's high heels and super short dresses combo, Dara's weird hairstyles, CL's eye make up and blond hair...) to their music which is so easy to recognize.
It's also impressive how different the four of them are, and how they worked together anyway as a unit. Their vocals, styles and images, roles in the group were all very unique to themselves. I never had to use any guide to recognize who was singing which part lmao.
They really paved the way for girl groups to explore more concepts, I know they were not the only one being confident and aggressive but they impacted idol groups this way nonetheless ; and for kpop groups to branch outside of SK and especially in the West (I still think with the right management, and removing YG's sabotage, they could have done so much more in the US). Actually it's crazy how influential they were in spite of terrible management, never-ending hiatuses, a very small discography, YG throwing them under the bus at any occasion and destroying Bom's career, or the most frustrating slow-motion disbandement ever.

They had so many iconic moments : Fire's intro (I GO BY THE NAME OF CL OF 2NE1! IT'S BEEN A LONG TIME COMIN' BUT WE'RE HERE NOW! AND WE'RE ABOUT TO SET THIS ROOF ON FIRE BABY UH-UH!), I Am the Best's aural assault, It Hurts' becoming THE audition song for such a long time (btw what a gamble to promote a ballad when their image was a bad-ass, loud, aggressive group!)... Oh what about MAMA 2015 when they all rised up from platforms, one after the other, after CL's solo performance? I had chills omg
Crush is still a fantastic album, it would definitively be on my list of essential kpop albums.
In the end, I'm picking Missing You because that's the song I replay the most nowadays. I love 2NE1's entire discography but some production choices don't always hold up today (a criticism I have of YG as a whole, not of the girls who had the charisma to sell anything). I also wish I would connect more with their solo releases. I just have a lot of nostalgia for them, and how much they meant to me ten years ago.

Honestly with older groups getting traction on charts, someone should get in touch with all four and get them to perform together again like 2015 Mama, I'm sure everyone would eat it up (and it could work as a boost to their own solo careers).

I've noticed it! I like that you're alternating! There are so many groups and soloists to talk about anyway, this serie could go on and on :)
I'm not very familiar with 1st gen as well, I've heard songs from S.E.S and Fin.K.L but that's about it. It would be interesting though. Talking about Fin.K.L, while I've seen you talk about BoA in the comments (could she be the soloist coming soon? :p), Lee Hyori could be another good soloist to cover!

I feel very lonely in my corner but I actually voted for 'Gotta be you'. 'Can't Nobody/I am the Best/I Love You' were strong contenders but 'Gotta Be You' is just too good to be left out. I've listened to that song countless times and yet, I never skip it. Bom's voice when she opens the last chorus after the bridge still gives me chills to this day. Fabulous <3

2NE1 kicked off my life as a girl group stan (SNSD followed right after). i remember when they did that ad with Big Bang for that lollipop phone pre-debut and i was like WHO ARE THEY!!!

ugh so many good songs<3 my top played songs (since their debut) are Clap Your Hands, Can't Nobody and It Hurts but i think i have to go with Can't Nobody! obviously IATB is incredibly iconic but i don't consider that one of my faves

OP i'm loving this series so so much! it's crazy how all these groups/releases come and go + the whole kpop culture has completely changed, but time doesn't feel like so much should be able to change this much? lol it's been so fun to look back and see which mvs i remember and which songs i still feel the same about all these years later! sometimes i love nostalgia. this has been so fun, i look forward to it!<3

As much as I loved all their badass songs, Missing You is my favorite title track from them. Can’t believe Teddy used to actually write good music?? But IATB will always be that song. 2011 when they performed it at Mama? Iconic.

yay it's one for me! it's really hard for me to pick a favourite. i don't listen to them as much as i used to because i do agree with everyone else that their music aged awkwardly but when i'm hyped and up for being crazy alone in my room i 100% go to 2ne1.

unpopular opinions time but (1) missing you deserves to not be named on the poll, it's an underdeveloped trash song. the first verse and prechorus are promising and then the song goes downhill from there. teddy needed like another month on it. honestly sounds unfinished. minzy sounded great on it though. and (2) do you love me deserved more appreciation. i know that at the time it was kind of plain compared to their other releases but that just means it's stood the test of time better than their other songs and is honestly still a bop. and the outfits were cute for their promotions.

i'm going to have to vote for iatb because itis iconic and honestly i feel like it hasn't aged quite as badly as the others of their tracks, if just because there's a high camp aspect to that song that's remained charming.

i'm so torn bc i hard disagree with every single thing you say about "missing you" BUT you're spot on about "do you love me" which i love. minzy looks incredible in the pink wig, one of her best looks! (also her first verse! one of my fave minzy parts ever.)

with the pink wig i think you might have confused do you love me with falling in love? falling in love always sounds less noisy in my head than when i actually listen to it so i always forget what it actually sounds like lol. but minzy's pink wig was an absolutely iconic look, and her verses in it were awesome! cl's raps were great too. they did really well giving bom a (catchy, well-written, suited-for-her-voice) chorus that was aggressively mid-range, i think at that point they might had figured that bom's voice was already injured beyond repair.

the do you love me music video is the self-shot style music video.

and it's ok lol i have just about 80% accepted that my missing you opinions are the opposite of 99.99999% of 2ne1 fans. it's fine. it's FINE

omg you're right, how embarrassing! i was thinking of the right song, but i haven't watched "do you love me" mv in so long and kind of mashed it together with "falling in love", ashes upon my head. "falling in love" is ok, but nothing i revisit rly. "do you love me" is so infectious and upbeat, i rly wish it got more love.

i never rly saw ppl talk about "missing you", everyone mostly talks abt the bops or ballads other than MY, so i just assumed no one but me cared haha. i can see how it's not everyone's taste tho.

it's such a summery party song! i think it worked well as a pair of comebacks with falling in love, falling in love is a lazier (despite the weird trap instrumental) summer beachy song where as do you love me is that upbeat party number.

I never listen to their music by choice because although these songs were such a gamechanger back in the day, they really were a product of their time and it shows lol. It's a toss up between Fire and IATB because those are the two songs that will always be sung at karaoke. Like, yes I won't be listening to these songs in my spare time but I WILL sing my heart out to every line if you give me a microphone!
EDIT: I take it back!!!! I Love You is a timeless classic. I just needed the reminder!!!!!!!!!!!!
