Apink Bomi's latest stage visuals are causing concern.

On the 21st, an article was posted on an online community expressing concern over Bomi's health. The author attached a stage video of Apink's new song where Bomi is seen boldly showing off her figure in a matching crop top and shorts.

Bomi's waist that's revealed through the crop top is so tiny that her ribs are exposed. Her face also appears gaunt compared to her previous appearance on entertainment programs. Bomi lost a lot of weight as she went on a diet ahead of the group's comeback.

Earlier in January last year, Bomi confessed to concerning side effects of her diet on SBS entertainment program. She revealed, "I've lost about 8 to 9 kg rapidly. Afterwards, my immune system weakened and I caught atopic dermatitis. It's not that I'm sick but it feels like ants are crawling inside my body. I can't scratch it so I tied my hands with stockings when I sleep. When I woke up in the morning, I found myself scratching without realizing and got blood on my face."

i hope she starts eating more soon. her description of the atopic dermatitis is absolutely terrifying.
we need a revolution in the kpop industry ASAP because the exact same body type for every single idol is not at all sustainable. it's a guaranteed road to eating disorders, not just for the idols but for the fans too. even as i've tried to actively resist it, being into kpop has definitely warped my view of bodies and beauty standards to some degree.

on a side note, i've been watching a lot of youtube lately and i keep being suggested these "kpop diet" videos where people emulate the short-term starvation diets that various idols have mentioned doing. and it's always full of disclaimers that "this is not healthy, i don't recommend it" as though that's going to stop anyone from trying it after they see the results. it's pro-ana content with a disclaimer slapped on it. actually, i think it should be banned for media outlets to ask idols about their diets or for idols to describe them because it has the same effect.

:(
Any time a kpop diet article pop up, I wonder what the fuck I'm still doing here...
I hope she starts eating again soon... she shouldn't have to starve herself and jeoardize her mental and physical health.

jfc i know it's unrealistic but i wish the industry would stop forcing idols/celebs into these "diets" that only do more harm. the mere idea of an "ideal body" in general needs to go away.

Afterwards, my immune system weakened and I caught atopic dermatitis.

what the actual hell!!! i hope she's on medication for that. atopic dermatitis is a chronic condition... your immune system decides to attack your skin, and even your internal organs can be affected. i have a friend who's been hospitalized a lot and almost died from it a few times :( it's not something to mess around with.

I worry about the APink members since they started so young and have been doing this so long that this is all probably second nature to them at this point. I think I remember seeing praise for them "maintaining" themselves and keeping up with their diets whenever there's a comeback. People also tend not to worry because they always appear to be eating a lot on various shows (I watched the 2 eps of Apinkation released so far and they appeared to consume a lot of meals/snacks throughout the filming...but that's just the edit).

Bomi especially is always the most obvious case to me but Hayoung too has been talking about her strict diet a lot throughout this promotion cycle. Now that they're more veteran idols, I would hope that they can relax a bit more but there's always the pressure to keep up with younger groups, and instead of having quiet periods out of the public eye, a lot of them are actively keeping up with their Youtube channels throughout the year too.

Were their diets ever that extreme? I remembered for Hayoung’s debut she didn’t need to diet and was actually looking relatively healthy since she wasn’t stick skinny

I didn't follow them that closely from debut so I'm not sure of the extent, but just dealing with body image and appearance pressure in the industry must be tough since most of them were minors. I think the most drastic change that I took notice of was around the Only One era (esp with Bomi). I wouldn't be surprised if the dieting is self-motivated on their parts by this point instead of the company.

Bomi and Hayoung have both looked uncomfortably skinny this comeback, and it's glaringly obvious when the stylists keep putting them in shorts/skirts.

I don't even know what to type. I hate that this continues to remain a major issue in kpop and seems to be only getting worse as time goes on.

Bomi always does crash diet whenever they have comebacks. I hope she gets better soon.
