I feel like a lot of celebs (and their agencies) don't actually know what NFTs are and just see that they're a news topic and get roped in to doing something with them. Minzy almost did some, a few people have had things about NFTs. I mean the difficulty is that NFTs are illogical and incomprehensible to 90% of the internet anyway, so I can see how it would work.

I'm glad that most celebrities that I see getting involved with them seem to backtrack pretty quickly due to backlash. Hope Sunmi does the same.

I think i only have surface-level knowledge about NFT and have only skimmed through a grand total of 2-4 articles, but i know that it's: 1. dumb, 2. bad for the environment. like i don't think you need extensive research to find out about this.

i feel like this is actually a response to fans consistently commenting/trying to inform her of the harmful consequences of nfts under her earlier twt posts teasing this 'nft metaverse' or whatever. her official twt account has been teasing this for a while now and fans have been vocally opposing it ever since (like kpop fans have done for other groups (cough)sf9(cough) as well). it's kind of weird that they released some sort of statement/apology around this but don't actually engage with the criticism of fans — they're framing it as though fans are only upset because nfts are inaccessible, but they're upset because they're a capitalist scam and bad for the environment

if you have time to watch a long youtube video explaining nfts and why they're so bad for the environment and humanity in general, folding ideas has a really good one called "line goes up." i think there's a brief summary at the end too if you don't have time for the whole thing.
but basically they're a way for the rich to get richer by scamming people and burning insane amounts of fossil fuel power in the process.
