“You Still My NO.1! 🥇” is a poll series and promoted singles discussion for female artists! It’ll be for girl groups with some solo artists sprinkled in (like BoA, who inspired the title!).

another tough choice!! ultimately i chose why so lonely bc i still go back and listen to it, and 3 of the girls co-wrote it! i feel you and 2DT are a close second and third, though.

omggg this is again so difficult! i loooove so hot, tell me, like this and i feel you, but my favorite in the end is why so lonely. i love the mv and it's such a great summer song.

for b-sides, their album reboot is one of my favorite kpop albums ever (ever!!!), it is so cohesive and it holds up so well still. my favorite b-sides are from that album: faded love, loved, candle and one black night.

this one is really easy for me, i was a more casual fan of wonder girls for most of their early career, a lot of their music didn't stick with me especially early on but i loved them at the latter stage of their career and the girls as soloists. i really love i feel you too but why so lonely feels like an easy choice, great song, great mv and so many looks, yeeun with pink hair and her powerpuff girls cardigan is burned into my mind forever lol, it had everything.

Wonder Girls impact was so immense, it's always surprising to remember the 'main' lineup were only together and active for such a short time

I will forever be mad at JYP for how badly he tanked OG WG, he could not have sabotaged them harder if he tried 😣 They came back with some really good music but man what could have been ㅠㅠ

I was having trouble picking between nobody and why so lonely, but ultimately picked nobody because I loved all the different renditions of the songs

This was so hard for me. O.O But ultimately I chose So Hot because it was the very first Kpop song I ever listened to and it was good enough to both make me a Wonderful AND get me looking into other Kpop groups. I had a bias (Sunye) and a bias wrecker (Yubin) almost immediately and I'm still 100% here for any Wonder Girls content.

But also they basically only made good music so all choices are valid.

I really love Why So Lonely, it sounds great and the visuals were SO good. omg I was crushing on Sunmi hard lmao she looked incredible in that era. Be My Baby is so much fun too (though looking back the Single Ladies influence is really strong haha!). Irony is a good debut too, I missed out on it over the years but it’s a sound I like a lot now. But currently Tell Me and So Hot are the main ones competing for my top spot. They’re two quintessential classic kpop songs for me, when I think of songs that represent kpop songs like these two come up. They’re just so catchy with an element of cheese and I love that from kpop.

I won’t lie…. I kinda want to vote for The DJ Is Mine as a tie breaker 🙃 I love the song though I think it’s honestly a bad song. It’s very early 2010s but idk my ears like it a lot and I don’t know why omg. Some other thoughts I had when revisiting: Like This I loved when it came out but I don’t have much opinion on it now. And ugh our style back then was so bad, I’m sure I wore some outfits like those…
Akon’s feature in Like Money is also trash lmao. I Feel You came out when I wasn’t into 80s concepts at all (2018 when I started coming around to loving it), so I don’t have strong nostalgia for it. I like it but I have other retro songs I like more. Rewind I would’ve loved as the title.

This post was easier to make compared to SNSD & Twice, I’m curious if next weeks entry will have even less since they’re known for their shorter discography 👀

So many great songs! I picked Why So Lonely as it's the song I go back to the most, it's a stapple in my summer playlists.
Honorable mentions to Nobody for being one of the songs getting me into kpop, 2DT for being my first real Wonder Girls comeback, and Be My Baby/I Feel You for heading fantastic albums!

I wish Wonder Girls had better management and more opportunities to show themselves, the long US promotions feel like it hindered their growth in Korea. They were such a successful and influential group before they were shipped away.
Their soft reboot as a band will forever be iconic, oh the feels from seeing Yubin's drumming teaser... 😳 If only we got more of the songs they wrote and recorded before leaving JYPE

I still hope for a special retrospective performance with all members involved in a way, it feels like they could make it work even between members who never promoted together. At least we had quite a lot of solo activities from all of them besides Hyelim, even Sunye is coming back to the industry!

But in reality my favorites songs are all from Reboot, with exception of I feel you, I don't like that song that much (coincidentally is the only one in which the girls werent involver in the production as I remember)

OP, I think you got the Twice link wrong, it links to the SNSD post.

I disliked the WG singles from Be My Baby till pre-Reboot, so those have no memory in my mind. I loved Wonder World album but Be My Baby was a terrible choice of single. also it had such bad vocals and verses it did such a disservice to the band. I'm glad they had a revival with the band, and Why So Lonely EP remains my fave, every track is title track worthy.

it's a toss up between Nobody and Why So Lonely, but I'll go for WSL because it still holds up. Not that Nobody doesn't, but I won't actively listen to Nobody? it probably was one of the biggest kpop songs at that time where non-kpop fans like myself heard of.

oh no, this is an impossible choice- Wonder Girls were the first girl group I ever loved, and also they kept refusing to miss with each single... but after much deliberation I'm gonna go with the single that gets me most emotional and hyped at the same time: Nobody

(but I hate that I can't also vote for Be My Baby and Tell Me at the same time, I have so many memories with those two in particular)

Hmm, I also just realized that technically my favorite Wonder Girls song of all time, 이 바보 / This Fool, was a single too, but since it doesn't have a full mv and wasn't promoted as much I'm not gonna count it as a proper single compared to the others.

📢 I FEEL YOU 📢 AND IT'S NOT CLOSE

It's hard for me to separate my feelings from that song from my feelings about Reboot as a whole - like would I honestly like it as much if it wasn't from Reboot? But I think I would. I still listen to it just as much as the other songs on Reboot - if I didn't really like it, I would just skip it. Like when I listen to Wonder World, I rarely listen to Be My Baby. The pure joy I feel when I hear "And the Wonder Girls! We're back!' 😭 (The same joy I feel when Twice used to yell "TWICE" at the beginning of their songs lol) I love the commitment to the '80s retro vibe.

I have this theory that a lot of adult K-pop fans love '80s retro because we were either not born or too young to remember it, and so romanticize it in our heads, but for '90s/highteen we do remember that time period but weren't teenagers yet, either, so we weren't really old enough to dress like we were in Clueless and couldn't actually participate in that trend at that time. But this isn't a fashion post lol

Nobody was the single that introduced me to the Wonder Girls. (I saw them on Wendy Williams wayyyyy back when.) So that song has a special place in my heart.

Why So Lonely is a close second. Something about a good heartbreak single just does it for me.

Favorite B-Sides are John Doe, GONE, Beautiful Boy, Baby Don't Play, R.E.A.L., Girlfriend (YEEUN'S PEN IS UNDEFEATED), G.N.O., Friend, and Bad Boy.
