Ex-MOMOLAND’s Daisy says she hasn’t spoken to her former members since 2019

Former MOMOLAND member Daisy has revealed that she hasn’t spoken to her ex-groupmates since 2019.

Earlier today (February 9), the K-pop idol took to her newly launched Instagram account to answer questions about her whereabouts following her departure from MOMOLAND in 2020. During the series of Instagram Stories, the singer revealed that she has not been in contact with her former groupmates since 2019.

“We haven’t spoken since 2019!” the idol’s Instagram story reads. “Respectfully, this is the last time I’ll be answering this question.”

Daisy also addressed several questions regarding her former management agency, MLD Entertainment. Two years ago, she terminated her contract with the agency following a lawsuit for withholding 66 million won from her earnings in order to pay for Finding MOMOLAND’s production costs.

Daisy subsequently won her case against MLD Entertainment, per Soompi, but she revealed that the agency has since filed a petition of appeal. “They filed an appeal to the court and I don’t really know what happened after that(?????),” she claimed.

Elsewhere in the Instagram Q&A session, Daisy revealed that she did not know why her departure from the group was not publicly addressed by MLD Entertainment, adding that she feels it was “unfair and confusing” for both herself and fans.

“I felt like there wasn’t any closure for those of you who were waiting and I’m really sorry that it was never officially announced,” she wrote.

Daisy originally joined MOMOLAND in 2017, alongside member Taeha. However, Taeha would leave the group in late 2019 at the same time as founding member Yeonwoo, before Daisy followed in early 2020.

Last month, MOMOLAND made their return with the song ‘Yummy Yummy Love’, featuring Natti Natasha. The track was their first release after a year-long absence, following ‘Wrap Me In Plastic’, their February 2021 collaboration with producer CHROMANCE.

I always see kpop groups as coworkers (Shinee was very clear about this early on but I think they have obviously gotten a bit closer). The façade of best friends/family is silly to me. Some groups are genuine (I'm think about a group like Rainbow who actually seem to enjoy each other) but there are only a few like that to my knowledge.

Definitely. Coworkers or classmates but not besties/families like agencies always portray them. I think Sistar, Rainbow, Girls Day or Soshi (post Sica-gate) are genuinely close and friends.
But it's weird that she hasn't talked to any of the other girls since 2019, like not even catching up with them.

I saw these on her story last night! She’s charming in her replies so she could do well on social media. I like how she talked about embracing her ears since she was uncomfortable with them when she was younger.

It’s unfortunate that MLD was unprofessional left & right like not officially announcing she’s leaving, she wanted her fans to get closure and MLD couldn’t even do that. I’m not surprised she doesn’t keep in touch with Momoland as she joined later on and with the drama surrounding her trying to exit MLD, I wouldn’t be surprised if that created tension or MLD was creating us vs her/them environment. We won’t know the truth for now and she doesn’t want it pushed further. I’m assuming Taeha also has a similar experience, I doubt she stays in touch with Momoland.

I hope she's doing okay and I wish people would stop getting mad at her and the girls because of this stupid insta story.

I don't know if I'm just jaded after the last few years, but it kind of rubs me the wrong way how fans expect groups to be BFFs just because they're in the same group. Sure they can be close or relate to each other because they experience hardships together and usually dorm together, but they don't have to be friends because of that. I don't think it's fair for Daisy or the other girls to be villainised because they don't keep in touch, and it's probably an uncomfortable situation for all of them especially when their company didn't do shit to clear the air. I know when I was younger I romanticised the idea that my favs were family/friends in their respective groups and I cringe thinking about it lol. It's unrealistic to expect all those different personalities to mesh into one giant friendship. I get that the idea of sister/brotherhood makes money especially for the reality shows showing how groups live together, but it still feels weird to me now.

it doesn't help that many of the vocal fans are pretty young, so they kinda get sold into the family/friendship image the companies are selling. I know I was deceived by the SNSD sisterhood when I was a teenager. but yea tight friendships are often not the norm, and most groups are probably just close co-workers.

I was DEFINITELY deceived by multiple groups. I'll throw the whole old SM Town together. DBSK and Super Junior and F(x). Then you talk about 4Minute and 2NE1. Those were just embarrassing when the illusion disappeared.

I could have sworn I remember articles saying the remaining 3 found out about Minzy leaving through the news and they didn't mention Park Bom during her whole "scandal" which could indicated not supporting her. But I just tried looking through Omona archives for the 2NE1 tag and couldn't find anything. So maybe it was from koreaboo and were rumors? I would say they definitely seem closer now after all being outside of YG.

It was 2NE1's disbandment. They found out about it through the news. CL recently talked about it, briefly.

I mean, they could have found out about Minzy leaving through the news, I don't recall. But they all definitely found out about their group from a freaking news report. Which, like, I know YG sucks, but that one never ceases to disgust me.

hi suuuuuper late reply but there was definitely some tension between the girls for a year or two after minzy left. it was nothing obvious unless you were really following them but minzy was rightfully frustrated after how she'd been shafted for so long by yg but was also simultaneously a bit much about it. it was never anything obvious, just stuff in instagram stories or her liking posts/tweets from her friends where they went IN on yg and occasionally the other girls lol. none of them ever spoke publically about it though and she and the other members even throughout that time spoke of each other fondly in public and always talked of 2ne1 as something they treasured, even if they couldn't specifically in that moment mention it in terms of the individual members. From my point of view Minzy signed with YG before she was even 10 years old and left them when she was 22, so as mature for her age as she's always been, being in the kpop machine for the entirety of your formative years doesn't really equip you very well emotionally.

They all definitely made up/got back in touch at some point though, I think around the time CL left YG was the first time in a while they all started getting together and hanging out again so it must have happened a bit before that. Dara has once or twice posted screenshots from their groupchat lol. As far as the interpersonal relationships of the other girls go CL and Dara remain the absolute bestest of friends lol they're so cute! Honestly we'll never know what happened during the Bom scandal - sometimes I think the girls not speaking on it was probably the best thing, because I don't think any of them could have done something powerful enough to stop the media frenzy. And with Bom's shaky mental health in mind, one of them being involved with the whole thing publically might have affected her very negatively.

Ok so I wasn't completely off base. Maybe there was a post on here about the friends going in on the other girls/YG and that's where I picked it up. I never want to spread false information but sometimes my memory is fuzzy.

I definitely think they have turned more into a friendship now more than when they were 2NE1. They were coworkers who got along before but now are close friends who support each other. That is, it could have been they supported each other out of the public and YG blocked things. Who knows. Either way, I'm happy they are close together now.

I always thought 4minute soured because Hyuna chose her career and the other 4 were pissed that they got blindsided. I feel like both sides were valid in their choices and it was just unfortunate that it happened. I think the other 4 did celebrate the 10th anniversary and 2yoon were still collaborating so at least there's some sort of friendship

also related to your comment about idols friendship: i hate when fans made a big deal out of one member not posting their close relationship with the other members on social media (like not posting one member solo activity/project) and then start assuming that they’re not really on good terms. 🙄

The companies push that family/friends group idea so much and I think that's what leads to the illusion. Like you mentioned, other than wanting to be idols, some of these groups may have nothing in common with each other. It's a coworker situation 99% of the time. Friendships could be formed of course due to the shared experiences and struggles (and of course, if there are siblings then those relationships are already there like Crayon Pop Twins and Boyfriend Twins), but mostly, no. There is no friendship. Just the shared goal of being successful and working hard together.

I'm not surprised, since she has always hinted that mld was trying to block her. so I'm guessing mld restricted communications between her and the others, and at least it doesn't sound like there's bad blood
