“You Still My NO.1! 🥇” is a poll series and promoted singles discussion for female artists! It’ll be for girl groups with some solo artists sprinkled in (like BoA, who inspired the title!).

Our first entry is SNSD! In the comments share your favorite songs overall, but for the poll itself it will be more challenging as you must narrow it down to one. Easy for those who absolutely know their favorite, harder for those with multiple favorites! But that’s why you can still share the rest in the comments :) Let’s see which track is Omona’s no.1!

Oh this is such a fun idea OP!! And I think I really look forward to sitting & revisiting these mvs later 😍
Girls Gen really was THAT group — they were my introduction into Kpop back when Gee was released.
Sooo hard to choose a favourite- I did “Other” as my choice would be All Night. I love love the maturity of the mv, it was age appropriate, both in sound and visuals, and seemed like such a perfect transition into a Lady Group, which sadly Kpop just isn’t ready for!

girls generation honestly had excellent title tracks. even the ones that i didn't necessarily like i could see why other people would. each era was also so distinct

it's not a single but way to go has been one of my fave songs this past year, partially inspired by stayc's cover of it. it really made me nostalgic

ITNW and Genie were tough choices, but overall it had to go to The Boys. That era was too iconic and too impactful to not get the #1 spot. It's very closely followed by Genie with ITNW at 3rd imo

My top Japanese single is of course Paparazzi

The Boys really was a huge moment! I was so invested in that era lol. I wasn’t too into RDR and Hoot so I wasn’t a big fan at the time after two releases I wasn’t keen on but then The Boys came in with that larger than life MV (…2011 me thought so while 2022 me not so much lol) and I was in awe lol.

I’m still thinking about my vote. Oh! got me into SNSD, Genie is such a catchy song and ITNW is one of the best debuts ever. I Got A Boy was a moment!!
Party is a song that is pretty clear not one of SNSD’s strongest (even as I made the post revisiting the songs I was like yea…not their best) but it’s connected to some precious memories that was really important to me and I was really happy, so I think nostalgia alone makes it a fave.

But currently I think my vote will go to The Boys, ITNW, or Catch Me If You Can. The Boys is when I was at my peak fangirling of SNSD the grip that song had on me. ITNW is just a beautiful song and it’s meaning behind it now is really special. But really….Catch Me If You Can is THE song I listen to the most. I had it on repeat for so long. Its not their best work but my ears just love it so much haha.

I went with Catch Me If You Can because, yeah. It's somehow the one that still grabs me. The person I am now is not the person I was when the song came out... but it has remained That Song. It still feels so current somehow while a lot of SNSD songs are starting to feel their age for me even if they're technically timeless. But I was never really full in as a Sone (though I did buy their US release back in the day) so I accept that my opinion doesn't need to count.

they definitely have better songs but i used to be truly obsessed with their really repetitive ones like gee and oh!. i'll choose oh as my favourite because (no one else will lol) and for some reason i remember the mv, choreo and outfits soooo vividly even though i havent seen it in ages, i also used to really love the japanese version of it too.

Oh! was my introduction to SNSD and I was obsessed lol. Definitely top 5, maybe top 3! The MV was super memorable and I was like omg who are all these cute girls haha! I still love the pink boot school jacket/cheerleader combo all these years later.

My fave SNSD title track is definitely Genie, it still holds up today. Classic!
I also love ITNW and Catch me if you can. My fave Japanese tracks are Karma Butterfly and Paparrazi.

Jessica leaving and the drama that came with it in combo with the fact that I just didn't like their singles much from that point on kind of killed SNSD for me but my god was it hard to choose a favorite song from Gee through to IGAB. I went with Genie because if I think about it it is probably the song I would say is their best....but I definitely listen to IGAB more so I don't know maybe I picked wrong lol

B-side wise I just put Echo back on my playlist last week. We love a cute bop. I think Echo and Trick are tied for me for my fav SNSD b-side songs.

Editing to add that I REALLY love this idea for posts. I'm excited for more for other groups now!

Genie and IGAB are my favorite promoted songs of theirs (also Paparazzi but that’s jpop). Hoot is their most underrated track imo. In the end, I went with INTW because it’s one of the best debut songs and its usage for the protests in Korea makes me super emotional.

the title reminded me of Boa's song, but Soshi will forever be my no.1 group. thanks OP for this discussion post.

RDR was what brought me into Soshi, and I remembered being so wowed by the Oh! x RDR concept. but alas the RDR performances weren't my favourite as the girls were tired as hell performing them.

Genie would always be a classic and it actually is ranked among my top 5 Soshi tracks because of it's iconic start, easy fan chants, and just great beat in general. My other fave title track is Mr Taxi, as it was pretty different from their usual title tracks (if I'm not wrong also the first time they used autotune in title tracks?) and being released on my birthday was a sweet touch.

as someone who still loves snsd the most out of any kpop group I've listened to, I thought I would struggle more with this answer. I got into them in late 2008 when I discovered Kissing You, and every comeback was practically a religious experience but...

Into the New World is the song of theirs I love the most — I wish I'd been into kpop when they debuted because I'm sure that would have changed my fucking life instantly but... it's the only snsd single I listen to nearly every day, I feel like it has an impact on my life

also I attribute it to my absolutely fantastic mood during my last job interview. I put my playlist on shuffle when I started the car, itnw came on, and I knew I was gonna get the job. I did.

op LOVE this post idea!! but at the same time i don't because how can i choose???? snsd has soooo many solid title tracks... i think in the end i have to go with gee, but itnw, hoot, genie and mr mr follow veeeeeery closely. tbh i think their discography dropped from party onwards... i wish they would've continued with the more mature sound of mr mr?

the outfits and performances for oh! were so memorable and i love the bridge to that song. but hoot is a fave that i forget about often but then rediscover and love so much, the choreo is so good and i loved the vintage/retro concept even though the mv was so cheap lol

(can we do another one for their japanese discography because so many of their japanese tracks are amazing too, recently relistened to karma butterfly (even though that's not a title...) and galaxy supernova!!

I’ll probably do a Japanese discography vote for groups like SNSD & Twice later on! I think BoA will the only one where will it be included together since it’s a big part of the start of her career, I’m still figuring out that one.

Edit: OR I might do a post just dedicated to Japanese discographies to feature BoA, SNSD, Twice, and anyone else with prominent careers there (maybe KARA but idk how well remembered their songs in Japan are)

i only got into snsd about 2 years ago, so nostalgia isn't really a factor in my preferences. holiday is excluded bc it's not in my music library yet, I'm saving that album for last.
my top title tracks are: oh, hoot, genie, mr mr, the boys, itnw... and their cover of "girls generation" is an underrated bop.
the stupid giggly intro/outro of genie really peeves me though. could have placed higher without it

omg this is hard. i picked mr mr (i LOVE the mv) but i'm plagued with doubts. not surprised to see genie in the lead, it really is so good.

lion heart was the first snsd song i heard and got into so it has a special place in my heart. i love i got a boy too lmfao, paved the way for messy SM gg bops. and party is pure serotonin.

i've been meaning to learn more about snsd - i listen to their title tracks a lot but don't know too much about the members or their larger discography. i need to learn all the history and drama lmfao.

Edit. Mr, Taxi was my introduction to Kpop. The memories of sitting in a Korean sushi restaurant and wondering why the hell this song was on its playlist for 3 months before asking the waiter who the artist was. Bless.

I was really torn between ITNW, Gee and Genie, but I really wanted to choose Way to go, so in the end I went with Gee because of the whole mini album hahahaha
