SF9’s Inseong Announces Military Enlistment Date

SF9’s Inseong has announced his plans to enlist in the military.

On February 5, FNC Entertainment revealed that Inseong’s enlistment date has been set for March 21 and that he will be fulfilling his mandatory service as a member of the military band.

The agency also stated that they will make a separate announcement about Youngbin’s military enlistment once the date is confirmed.

FNC Entertainment’s full statement is as follows:

Hello, this is FNC Entertainment.

We are making an announcement regarding SF9’s Inseong’s military enlistment.

On March 21, after receiving basic military training at a training center, Inseong will be fulfilling his military duty as a member of the military band. In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and minimize chaos, there will be no public event on the day of his enlistment.

In consideration of the fact that it will be an occasion shared with many other soldiers, fans are prohibited from attending, and we hope that you will refrain from doing so.

We are always grateful for the love that you send SF9’s Inseong, and we ask that the fans cheer him on until the day he successfully wraps up his military service and returns in good health.

As for Youngbin, as soon as his enlistment date is finalized, we will inform you through an announcement.

I think I saw speculations among some fans that he might have applied to KATUSA after his high TOEIC score came out, but military band seems like a good fit for him too.

I guess after the two eldest enlist, the rest of SF9 would each be doing their own thing mostly. I wonder why they've never had any subunits for the more music-inclined members instead of all of them getting into acting (or musical acting) like they do now. For instance fellow 2016 debuter Astro now has 2 subunits.

Also, I'm not used to my faves announcing their enlistment dates a month or over in advance (Infinite is my other top boy group 🤣) I will miss Inseong, his energy is always so infectious and he seems like one of the only men I would see myself befriending if I ever met him irl lol.

aw i'm sad to see him go!! but i'm happy he's joining the military band because i'm worried for him in any other hypermasculine environment lol. i think inseong holds a really important position in the group not only in terms of skills but also as a person idk he always lightens the mood amongst this group of introverts. hope he'll return just as brightly as he left!

I was expecting it, but also not expecting it to be so soon. I guess the enlistment has to be settled before their birthday, which is why his was faster? he'll be missed as he brought many laughs and lifted the mood in many of their videos. I hope he does well in the army, and hopefully he can continue to eat as much as he wants too
