I think omona generally enjoys stayc, and especially since they are one of the few groups to sing live frequently.

kpop is full of lipsynching, and idm it sometimes especially. but can we have some variety at times. which is why even though stayc still has some work on their performances, it's refreshing to watch what special they have

That is my issue with aespa. They can definitely sing, they have some impressive vocal lines but its off putting how little they sing live. But since SM wants to make sure they look perfect and fans are vicious at voice cracks, I sort of see why even if it’s disappointing.

but aespa are paling in comparison to other groups in terms of performance even without singing live. like karina, winter and ningning trained for years but they aren't really showing why SM kept them for so many years

IA that they need to work on stage presence but it would increase if they could be allowed to sing live. Then they’d at least be like Red Velvet, whose stage presence is very hit or miss with 2 members carrying most of the work but their vocals really shine through.

Yea I’d say STAYC is kind of one of the 4th gen girl groups that has omona’s approval. They at least get some attention vs some of my other nugu 4th gen faves lol. It helps since BEP’s songs are well liked here so they had a bit of a shoo-in there

They’re really sweet. I find the group a bit overrated just looking at what groups get attention and who doesn’t & BEP’s songs have strong influence in kpop and omona in general. BEP’s girl group was always going to do well, he’d have to be incompetent as Brave Brothers to fuck that up and luckily he’s more business savvy. But the girls themselves are sweeties and they’re a good team, they have a bright future ahead of them! I loved their debut and Stereotype so I’m looking forward to their future comeback.

“ tbh i havent paid much attention to other groups” that’s what I mean though lol, they have people tune in because of BEP and ASAP’s success whereas other groups with less money stay slept on. BEP had the leg up since I’m sure he’s funded a lot with his money from his many other hits. It’s just interesting to see who is granted support and who isn’t. But it doesn’t take away from the girls themselves, just my observation of the industry. If overrated isn’t the right word, they did at least have a certain privilege.

not to barge into a conversation, but i think bep is the example of how to do it correctly. like you said, he clearly had money to invest into them

there's been so many groups under a famous producer, or produced by a famous idol or celebrity, and most of them do decently or straight out don't do well at all. the difference, i feel like, is that bep put money into them from the beginning to promote them and continued it until there was solid interest for them. I saw so bad through a yt ad first and then constantly through 1thek's content. whereas a lot of other groups debut, have a bit of initial media play and then the investment dies out within months if they don't immediately hit success

if it was just about having a famous name, brave brothers, shinsadong tiger and rain's groups would have more immediate success (even groups like stray kids if we want to be really controversial but that's another conversation). if it was just about good music, plenty of groups deserve more than they get. bep put the money in to give them spotlight and the music was good for people to keep paying attention to them

it's sort of the same (to me) as gfriend or ateez or even sister- they came from smaller companies but their companies were able to keep pushing through company connections (source music), investment (kq entertainment) and taking advantage of a viral fancam to push their groups further into literally every opportunity known to man (gfriend, sister, exid, brave girls)

The market is saturated so I always get so frustrated and upset for members/staff when a new group debuts under a company and its very clear that the company doesn't have the funds to sustain them if they don't become successful within a few months. It's such a morally irresponsible thing to do imo

That’s basically what I’ve been saying. That’s why included in my previous comment how he’d had to be like Brave Bros to really fuck up. He has a reputation for hit songs and he has invested a shit ton into the group, during ASAP I saw them literally everywhere they were working non stop. If he didn’t have the money or the skills to manage it would be Brave Girls all over again.

But yes I get frustrated to that these companies put out groups that they can’t support. “if it was just about good music, plenty of groups deserve more than they get.” Exactly, that’s why it’s frustrating. Money and access to better productions and promotion is always going to matter most.

Oh, yes, definitely agreeing with you! Its also crazy that they've been working nonstop haven't made any personal money yet (at least last time I checked). Its really the unfortunate cost of doing business within the industry

Thinking about it, I can't think of any other idol group created by a known name outside of an already established company that has done amazingly, beyond maybe BTS, Block B and EXID?

I am really behind with Live Journal so I mainly watch all the music videos and never really have time to check out all of the group regular videos! But looking at the title I knew this would be fun! They were all cute and funny! I have enjoyed Stayc since they debut and enjoy their songs. They are fun to watch!

I will check out more of them if you post it just could be a month or two before I get to it! LOL
