The new season of Queendom will be in March 2022. Queendom is the show that helped boost multiple girl groups in its first season, especially Oh My Girl. Street Man Fighter, a successor to the huge hit Street Woman Fighter is coming in the second half of 2022.

Time to make our guesses, who would you like to see or predict to be on Queendom?

I think they're so nugu in korea it won't happen but damn wouldn't it be cool to see Pixy on Queendom? Maybe Nature or Fanatics (if neither are just...gone forever already). Or Elris? Or maybe all of them are too nugu too? Dreamcatcher would be cool but they might be too RELEVENT its hard to guess lol

me seeing queendom season 2: šŸ‘€šŸ‘€šŸ‘€
me seeing street mens fighter/SMTM 11: šŸ˜’šŸ˜’šŸ˜’

anyway, i'd really like to see a 2nd gen girl group on queendom tbh. i don't even care who at this point!! i just want to see some of the ~older~ (hate typing that) ladies have a resurgence in popularity 🄲 i'd probably settle for even a 3rd gen group.

actually now that i've seen other people bring up chung ha for a soloist slot, it made me think of another MNH act: bvndit!! i know they're not popular at all lmao but they're certainly talented and it would maybe help them get some attention. idk how far seungeun got on GP999 but i'm still thoroughly annoyed that MNH didn't take the opportunity to give them a comeback once her run on the show was over.

(sorry if u get a notif every time i edit this, OP šŸ’€)

as much as i would love to see dc on queendom, considering what happened to the groups on there (except for oh my girl, the one true winner of the show and the last surviving group), it's something... i don't really want to risk? tbh i'm not sure who i want on there lmao!

A reminder that the first season of Queendom was relevant acts or acts with hits to their name; Oh My Girl and Lovelyz had the least amount of buzz in comparison but also had some decent traction by then (with OMG really taking off post show). A bunch of no names was not bringing in the views y’all. With that being said…I mean…who is left? The BIG big acts are Big 3 and like let’s be honest…would they send someone to this? Like JYP more than. Likely would send Itzy (TWICE will be touring so that’s a no). SM doesn’t do these kinds of shows often and just filled their quota via Hyoyeon. And…I really can’t see them putting Aespa in that. As for YG…LMAO

ALl the relevant Gen 3 girls are likely out or have done it. I think they will lower the bar but are definitely going to try and fine…some big names.

My guesses: Apink, Laboum, StayC, Weeekly, some lower end Gen 4 girls (Purple Kiss, Cognature, RP) some lower end Gen 3 (The ioi groups…that are still left), a soloist or two (Chungha if she is bored, Hyolyn/Minzy/CL…maybe Sunmi). Dreamcatcher is a possibility. Brown Eyed Girls are still technically kicking so that would be fun. If the show was smart they would get some non idol choices as well (this is me wanting Baek Yerin to do the show since she was originally intended for Girl’s Spirit!!!)

StayC and Weeekly are in the same boat…more or less. Decently sized with some buzz (StayC in particular). I doubt SM is going to allow Aespa on so that means StayC will probably take that spot and attention.

I’m…im not interested in a male version of anything.

Edit: I forgot about the Gfriend subunit but not really girls. T-Ara. Soyu is there as well. Yeah…there are options.

Edit2: it would be fun if they could get some Gen 1 ladies. Get that lady off of Jeju Island to come be an idol again. Bada likes to perform.

I think they are not the most likely cases, but if you want a group with some sort of legacy and good publicity (three members from one of the big girl groups in the last generation now looking to redefine themselves, etc.), I think they would be one of the few examples left. As for material, Bom had two songs out by the time Queendom happened (actually four but she never touched her 2ne1 era solos), and G-idle did Fire by 2ne1. Tbh I think they are not that likely, but they could get away with it with how many covers the show ask of these groups.

unfortunately stayc's company are beefing with mnet at the moment, so i doubt they can go if they couldn't even got to mama.

also, stayc have far surpassed any other newer girl groups that's not aespa. i love weeekly but i think us as international fandoms have overblown their popularity a little bit based on after school. weeekly are definitely doing way better than purple kiss/cignature/etc., but there's really a wall between them and stayc at the moment

Well…*kanye shrug*

I only placed them together as groups who have some game to their name. I am definitely aware that StayC got a grip on the girls! Anyway without them or Aespa, the 4th Gen is sparse on relevant names (save Itzy). Eh well. That’s the way the cookie crumbles.

Loona were rumoured to be joining the first season for a while, and if BBC Were smart, they’d send them on the 2nd season stat. I’m guessing they’re not having a cb anytime soon and this could boost their profile a tiny bit.

But their company isn’t smart, so.

omg i would absolutely love to see Bada on there. And Laboum. For the love of god, please give laboum another chance. They actually want to continue promoting and their label drama happening at the time of their song popping off ruined all of their momentum, i feel so bad for them. Would love to see Hyolyn, but she's already on another less relevant show. I think Minzy is on it too 😭

I was hoping that production would start in March but if not my fave gonna have to slay on this duo show.

Bada has maintained a level of relevancy without releasing a lot music and I think this would be a great way to sort of ease her into a new generation. She has the actual skillset (her immortal song performances are just the level of dramatics and epic that Queendom likes) and she covers a lot of these new kids music anyway. GIVE HER A CHANCE MNET.

As a Lovelyz fan, I don't want Queendom 2 to happen, or any of my faves to join in 😭 While Woollim are the biggest culprits, Queendom did them more harm than good.

As for my guesses:
- Apink would have scheduling issues but I'm betting Mnet is trying to get them just for the ads. Could the company send Weeekly instead?
- Brave Girls maybe as a strategy from their company to ride on Rollin's success without having to properly promote them, since they don't seem the best at managing...
- Cherry Bullet's members have been in two Mnet shows already, Queendom initially did well for AOA and FNC seems to have the right phone numbers. Even if they're not well known as a group, they're my most likely bet so far.
- Dreamcatcher are in the right popularity spot to be under Mnet's radar, and I'm sure they would handle the challenges well. My first point still stands.
- fromis_9 officially joined Pledis this year... Pledis long were Mnet's go to for managing girl groups. I can totally see them joining. At least them being with Pledis will mean some rigging in their favour? Or at least a good character arc?
- Laboum, similarly to Brave Girls, and especially as their company missed the moment to properly capitalize on their old song rising back on charts. A second most likely candidate for me.
- Loona if their company is desperate enough I guess? Heard gossip that they have money trouble.
- Momoland again as a way for their company to have them somewhere without having to plan a proper comeback? How long has it been since they released a song? The first performance would be a Bboom Bboom remix.
- Rocket Punch haven't got a comeback in a while, oh god Woollim don't do it again 😭
- StayC would be the (g)i-dle of this season if they joined! Surprising success from debut, lots of hype and publicity.
- T-Ara are probably too busy like Apink but it would be a fantastic fuck you to their former agency lol.
- Weki Meki just promoted so I don't think so but it could seem like a good opportunity for their company if there's a big name attached to the show, I guess.
- WJSN though again I really don't hope so, could be why Chocome's announced comeback still isn't happening?

I don't think Cube would send Lightsum as they're so recent, and don't have (g)i-dle's hype. SM/YG/JYP usually don't send anyone but Itzy might be Mnet's prized target like Mamamoo were?

Also, will they keep the soloist slot? I'm really struggling to think about potential candidates.

Overall with Mnet having Mamamoo last time as headliners though they absolutely did not need the show on the one hand, and Mnet's reputation and scandals on the other, all bets are off.

Me neither haha but I knew they would find a way to bring Queendom again, whether we want it or not.

I really miss the dance competitions or collaborations between groups that used to happen, like the dance performances Soshi did in their early days or WG with [redacted boy group name]. They could show different sides of them and it was very interesting as a fan, without the pressure of competiting against each others. At least groups have been very active with uploading various covers and dance videos on social medias
It was nice that Queendom did not have any eliminations at least, but they still added competition between groups which must have been stressful.

wow your guesses are so close to mine! i think fromis9 might potentially avoid it due to the rigging controversy and not wanting to bring that back up as a conversation

for potential soloists, all i can think are chungha, cl, minzy or hyolyn. minzy and hyolyn are both going to be on another singing show together in the new year, so they might rule this one out. i don't know if cl wants to go back to playing the usual variety game and i don't know if chungha is too successful overall for this

Date: 2021-12-14 03:31 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] gathyou.livejournal.com
I hope fromis avoid it too, they don't need another competition show from Mnet.

Since they had Bom already, I don't think they would seek out another 2NE1 members? Especially if Minzy is already casted somewhere.
Chungha would make sense, they managed to catch big names/very established acts for the 1st season, and Chungha hasn't topped Gotta Go for some time I think?

Some of the top comments on naver were mentioning weki meki (the second comment when i looked was literally just 'wekimeki' lol) I don't expect them to be on but i'm glad they were being mentioned by the korean commentators. I mostly want to see Dreamcatcher or a group like T-ara there.

I wonder if we will see a solo singer there since Bom was in s1. I have seen people mention Chungha but idk if she would do a show like this. Maybe some of the iz*one or other ioi girl who has gone solo?

well at this point are there enough groups with no.1 to be on queendom? I believe that was an issue plaguing Kingdom, so I foresee the same issues trying to attract companies with the potential shitstorm that the groups have to deal with

if we're going with similar format or 6 teams:
- itzy the most likely group to be there, since they're popular and would benefit from it
- soloists wise I think Chungha might appear, since she and MNET have alright ties. I wouldn't mind Hyolyn/CL/Minzy as another commenter said.
- apink was a group I wanted for queendom 2 during queendom 1, but now I'm not sure if it's the best for them, especially since they're on semi-hiatus and they're not really known for showmanship? Maybe Weeekly might take over since they're relatively alright?
- stayc, rookie group and relatively popular. would be nice to see them having interactions with the senior groups.
- Everglow. I think they have won before so they're eligible and i-fanbase is strong since the korean ratings are abysmal I heard. good for them to prove to Korean fanbase too
- red velvet, or seulgi? it would be nice for them to be repping 3rd gen and they don't need all members there, a la AOA previously. Mnet will probably push for an SM rep there

would have loved for WJSN/Ive, but I think Mnet and Starship are still beefing so no. gfriend would have been good choice last time, but they're now gone so oops.

it might surprise me if kep1er or billlie get invited, but if Mnet is desperate enough they'll probably do it.

Mnet wanted Monsta X for Kingdom but Starship turned them down
Evidently this really pissed them off bc now all of Starship's artists are apparently blacklisted, I'm pretty sure none of them have appeared on any Mnet or M2 programs for almost a year

But now that IVE is shaping up to be maybe the biggest girl group of their generation I bet they'll find it in their hearts to forgive Starship sometime soon lol

this might just be me speaking controversially but i think potentially bora? i've seen her on a few shows and she's clearly still dancing, which is great!

i feel like hyolyn might, considering she's guested on good girls, is doing another singing show in january and releasing music. soyou's moved to another company and i guess she might be willing, for some pr/publicity (in a good sense). and i think dasom might be willing, considering that she had summer x summer earlier this year and, for some reason, i genuinely think she might be open to if asked. whereas bora has had more activities this year and hasn't done anything involved with music since sistar disbanded.

also i think dasom has improved a lot musically, both within sistar and since they disbanded, whereas i don't think bora has, necessarily? it's not a big issue but i can imagine wanting to avoid negative attention for her skills/talent on a show that would seem unnecessary considering her career choices

if we're still going with the old format of 5 groups and 1 soloist, i would want to see apink, chungha, wjsn, dreamcatcher, stayc and everglow since they all have hits to their belt but some of the groups just don't seem to take off (dc and wjsn in particular) but most of all I just wanna see the cute lil interactions backstage

i dont even wanna see aespa there cause it'll just be Kwangya: The Show (feat. Kwangya Residents)

From: [identity profile] dot-rose.livejournal.com
I'm excited for Queendom. From what happened to Bom, I don't think soloist get fair treatment unless they change the format, but it could also cause the soloist to be overworked (participate in both Dance and vocal performance).

This show will need at least 1 popular group to draw attention and then the rest will be less-well known groups and older groups.
Like the other comments, would love to see APink (not sure if the other members are busy with acting gigs).
I think Hyoyln can benefit from this. Maybe WJSN, Rocket Punch, Weekly.
Cherry Bullet should be there since they were on Girls Planet 999.
I wouldn't expect SM artists to be there since they're working on SM Town and they have enough publicity without having to enter this show.

lol of course they are doing Street Man Fighter next. My guess is that it will not be a smuch fun as SWF, and that it'll probably flop. MNET cannot be so lucky with the casting two times in a row. At least we got Street Girls Fighter before that, and it's being so much fun so far.

I'll watch Queendom 2 depending on the line up and if omona does posts for it.

i think street man fighter will get more views, simply bc swf already built that audience up and people might be more willing to watch men. but idk i don't think men will be seen as kindly/cool unnies as monika/gabbee etc. did, and also...i think male ego might get in the way of it lol

Those are exactly my thoughts. SWF was popular because the cast happened to be really fun and they were willing to play up the drama but also support each other and have fun at all times. I don't think a male cast will be able to replicate that. So I think the first episode will have an audience watching because of SWF but then it'll flop.

Wasn’t it just gidle culturally appropriating? They literally were accused of CA from debut so it couldn’t have been that surprising.
I didn’t see the show as ā€œhurtingā€ Lovelyz’ careers, but more so as a last ditch attempt to gain some popularity and not succeeding. I don’t think it hurt to try. I don’t know if they were actually negatively impacted (like if their sales plummeted) after the show tho, so correct if I’m wrong!
