Plot: Set in the 18th century, "Red Sleeve" depicts a love story between King Jeongjo and royal concubine Uibin Sung.
Sung Deok-Im (Lee Seyoung) is a court lady. She gets involved with Crown Prince Yi San (Lee Junho) and he falls in love with her. The crown prince eventually becomes King Jeongjo. He now desires Sung Deok-Im to become his concubine, but she refuses. Sung Deok-Im wants to live her life freely, something that will not be possible as a concubine. She also knows that life of a royal concubine does not generally bring about happiness. Yet, Sung Deok-Im becomes the concubine of King Jeongjo.

Episode 5
- Deok-im is not good at spying and Deok-ro is a dick. No SLS for me in this drama.
- I love San coming in and pulling rank and completely not taking Deok-ro’s BS about not recognizing Deok-im and trying to have her killed
- Is he… jealous of his own mother? Lol
- I LOVE that Deok-im talks back to San… and immediately makes him back down. He’s so whipped.
- “Are you sucking up to me?” - “No, I was sincere… but are you less upset with me?” LMAO
- His guard is without a doubt, the funniest character in this drama
- San’s knowledge of Deok-im is deeper than any CP should have about any court lady… not sus at all
- Their shared love for books is so cute. And him buying her books and offering to explain passages to her is so romantic (so smitten). Her thinking it’s a punishment is hysterical
- "This punishment isn't so bad" "WhAT DO yOU meAN pUniSHmenT?!?"
- “The moments we shared in the library were special to me. Did I captivate you? Were you really captivated by me? Or was it that I was captivated by you?” San basically confessing in the middle of the market
- Deok-ro can eat bricks. I don’t like him. He’s sus and is so insensitive, I hate that all the court ladies have a crush on him
- Sweet gramps continues to be adorable and giving me so much specs envy. I want his glasses so badly lol
- Palace politics is blegh
- I was curious why Court Lady Jo was so against San being King. I’m glad it wasn’t for some ulterior power struggle reasons but that she was concerned (albeit misplaced and not great either) that he might be like his father. Not much better, but like, I can understand it
- Taking a stroll and thinking about her and whether or not she’s thinking about him - he’s got it so bad
- Misinterpreting her coming of age ceremony dress, SPRINTING to her, being wrongly jealous of his gramps and acting like a truly lovesick fool…
- “I feel a personal affinity towards His Highness today. He just made a clown of himself.” LMAO Head Guardsman my favorite character
- The way he BOOKED it out of there OMFG hahahah
- His mom tricking him to talk about not taking on a concubine and only noble daughters in front of Deok-im is DIRTY
- Junho and Seyoung in this scene were SO good, especially when the curtain lifted. Their eye acting was so good. You could see how upset she was and how guilty he felt.
- San needs to not be so obvious… why do you think your mom just did that, bruv
- His aunt and her so are the woooooooooooorst
- The moment he’s in trouble, she’s running for him… and immediately volunteers to be with him… as if she wasn’t trying to get out of being around him ever again
- Yeah, fuck his aunt and her kid… you woke up scary gramps! You jerks.
- Lee Deok Hwa is INCREDIBLE
- The moment he hears her voice he immediately gets closer 😍😭
- I love this scene… it’s so sweet - they like/love each other in their own way without even saying it outright, you can just feel it in their actions towards each other
- Oh my lord, this entire scene… the three of them… especially Lee Deok Hwa and Junho… holy shit, just SO good

- Lee Junho… you are something else, kid

- I loved that Deok-im already admired San as a CP before having properly met him because of his character
- Yes, my girl! Truly becoming his kind of partner like she promised him she would be
- You punch Deok-ro the first chance you get Deok-im-ah… we both know he’s a dick
- I love Deok-im and San together so much, y’all don’t understand
- Deo-im’s friends are the best, I love my G4
- His aunt continues to be the worst and the queen continues to be a wonderful human being

- How happy she was when San called her “Deok-im-ah” and tells her how well she did

- Head Guardsman is the comedic relief needed for this show... he’s kind of terrible at his job lol

- The Palace drama here is interesting because it’s the women plotting… I don’t hate it per se. It’s weirdly refreshing? Lol

- And of course Deok-im comes running the moment his confinement was lifted… if that ain’t love… UGH, I love themmmm

- San lying through his damned mouth about not caring for Deok-im when anyone with two eyes could see it from a 100 miles away… but I guess that’s his way of protecting her
- Every scene between Lee Deok Hwa and Junho is 🤌🏻💋

- LOL all the court ladies not knowing how to deal with San while Deok-im’s away is next level comedy. Jang Hye-jin is so wonderful as Court Lady Seo
