Plot: The Crown Prince's wife gave birth to twins, but twins were considered an ominous sign. The twin daughter was supposed to be killed, but her mother begged to save her life. Secretly, the twin daughter is sent out of the palace. A few years later, the twin son Lee Hwi is killed. The Crown Prince's wife hides her twin son's death and brings her twin daughter back to the palace and raises her as Prince Lee Hwi (Park Eun-Bin). Lee Hwi eventually becomes a crown prince, but she is afraid her real identity will be revealed. Because of her secret, Lee Hwi is unable to have anyone close to her. She hides her emotions from others and she makes biting remarks.

Jung Ji-Un (Ro Woon) is Lee Hwi’s teacher. Jung Ji-Un comes from a noble family. He is handsome, smart and an optimist who enjoys life. Crown Prince Lee Hwi develops feeling for Jung Ji-Un.

Rowoon has such a beautiful voice. When I heard him sing on Knowing Brothers, I was like, damn, get this man some solo opportunities. Glad he finally has an OST! We're getting so close to the end and I'm still on the edge trying to think what will happen. I love that living on the East Coast but working West Coast hours allow me to watch this before I start my work day on Mondays/Tuesdays.

Ep 13
- This was not the reaction I was expecting but it also makes a bit of sense in a way

- Ha-kyung is really cute, which in the grand scheme of things, makes me sad
- Rowoon is so comically tall against all those maids, I can’t help but chuckle even when it’s a serious scene
- Aw she really likes her, which makes me even sadder
- I love this new partnership of Hyun and Eunuch Hong… And I love that Hyun and his dimples strike fear among everyone
- I appreciate them adding moments of lightness amidst all of the tension

i know! theres still technically so much to cover with her being dami that hasnt been discussed at all yet i thought they were going to reveal everything these eps

as soon as he happily ran away to buy her that gift i knew things were going to go south immediately but i still resent it we got approx 15 minutes screentime of them outside the palace being happy 😔

i'm hoping too there will be some character growth with ji uns father, there were some hints these episodes that he might try and be better like him requesting the job on ji uns behalf seemingly for nothing, letting commander yoon go and their conversation about him never feeling he had a choice etc so i hope he'll come around but i also sense its more likely he'll do something terrible that effects hwi and ji un and then regrets it rather than sorting out his feelings beforehand :/

okay 95% of these eps were miserable lol and there was so much plot that i don't care about but i liked the ending of ep 14 (mostly) and i think we got a lot of good moments again that showed hwi's character and growth.


- not them starting this ep with old men after the beginning of the reveal!!
- ji un apologising for not noticing 😭
- i was afraid after so many instances of people already knowing about hwi that her revealing her secret would have ji un saying he already knew/guessed and am glad they didnt and now him reassuring her his feelings havent changed, this is all i wanted!!
- omg are we finally getting ga on's backstory
- so is he the old royal tutors son? did we know that? i dont get how any of this will factor into the rest of the plot but ok
- byeeeeee king it is about time someone got poisoned it is a sageuk after all
- we love a male lead whose dream life is providing for her, doing all the cooking and buying her gifts
- and now everything is terrible again lol she only got to live her new life for like 48 hours :(

rowoons ost!!! the song itself could be a little better but i love the last third and his vocals 😔💞 he really didnt get enough lines on rumination so this is easing my bad feelings about that a little lol i hope he gets to do a stage for it

also celebrating this drama hitting double digits in the viewership percentages!!! it deserves it

I think they implied that Ga-on was the dead tutor's son because they had a flashback to that guy's execution when someone was talking to Ga-on one time. But it was so brief and I started to doubt myself until all the people who contributed to the tutor's death started turning up dead.

I had so many feelings about these last two episodes.

Okay I just...kind of love that Ji-un was pretty chill about Hwi being really a she. But also as soon as he went to get that binyeo I knew bad things were going to happen.

I'm so glad nothing bad happened to Court Lady Kim and Eunuch Hong. (Eunuch Hong and Hyun as bad cop and good cop was the best for reals.)

I am glad I wasn't the only one who was confused about whether Hwi was married or not. I remember in Mr. Queen they called the Queen "your majesty" even before the wedding, but they just...got married off-screen and now they have to try to "have a kid"?

I was kind of confused about Rowoon just being all sad eyes when Hwi was going to the conjugal visit with the queen (who I like! She's so cute! I feel so bad for her) instead of, I don't know, panicking? Because if the queen sees the real Hwi so many people will die. I was like...you just sad that there's gonna be hot lesbian lovin' without you? I feel like you should be trying to sabotage this for more than just your emotions.

So much going on!

Also clown is me, the Korean title of the show is just...affection? Yeonmo? But the English title is King's Affection and I was like...but Hwi isn't the king, so why is this the title? Of course she had to become King eventually.

I hope nothing bad happens to Hyun. I like him. Also I hope he and Ji-un don't become petty enemies over all of this.

I am afraid that Ga-on/Eunseo, in his quest for revenge against the people who killed his father, might mess things up for Hwi trying to track down the dead eunuch's wife, since the eunuch was the guy who planted the letter in his dad's quarters that got him into trouble.

i actually like the title the king's affection in english because in the first half of the drama i felt like hwi was trying to gain the (now late) king's affection in a way, by being a good crown prince but also dealing with her feelings of rejection because she was supposed to have been killed by her own family

nooo i'm so sad to always join these discussion posts so late because there's so much happening in this drama i want to talk about! the politics kind of goes over my head at times and i kind of forgot what gaon is doing but i'm sure i'll figure it out when it's all revealed lol.
