Flashback Friday
2021-11-19 03:33 pmEvery week I go through the charts for this day in the past and share the top three songs. Then I pick out two more from the top ten as honorable mentions. This week, let’s check out what was on top in the 3rd week of November, 2014. Some of the songs have been posted before, so we will check out some comeback stages.
#3 Yoon Hyun Sang featuring IU “When Would It Be”
Yoon Hyun Sang signed with LOEN after his top ten finish on the first season of K-Pop Star. This song, a duet with his labelmate IU, would be his debut. The song, as with all the songs on the “Pianoforte” album, were written by Hyun Sang himself. IU had heard it, and wanted the song for herself, but the company suggested a duet instead. So here it is. They sound lovely together.
#2 Epik High “Happen Ending”
This was one of the three singles from their 8th album, “Shoebox”. The album would peak at the #3 on the charts, while this song would hit the top spot. The original song features Rollercoaster’s Cho Won Sun, but they had different singers (mostly from their YG label mates) sing on the music shows. This was their comeback stage on M Countdown, and they share the stage with AkMu’s Suhyun.
#1 Beast “12:30”
This was the lead single from “Time”. It was an EP that was released to celebrate the group’s 5th anniversary. Both the album and the song would peak at #1. I remember really liking this song. And the choreography too. I remember thinking it seemed like a lot of choreo for such a mellow song. They are moving around so much lol. Here’s their comeback stage on Music Core.
Honorable Mentions
#8 VIXX “Error”
2014 was really busy for the group. In between a Japanese debut, worldwide activities, and tour, they also had two Korean comebacks. This was their second one for the year, and the lead single from the EP of the same name. The group would release the song in Japan at the end of the year, and it would also chart in the top ten there as well. Let’s take a look at their Music Show comeback. Fan chants sound so good!
#9 Girls’ Day “I Miss You”
2014 was a really good year for the girls, with the success of “Something” and “Darling”. They would end the year with this ballad single. I think that this was more like a digital single, they did not promote the song at music shows. The song would peak at #4 on the charts. I’m sure I remember this MV though. They all look so pretty.
