Ok, now for the album. Lemonade should have been the title track. I absolutely love it. The rest of the songs are also really really good - SM only messed up with Sticker, but I guess they needed that distinctive, weird sound for 127. Breakfast is cute, Focus and The Rainy Night are chill and sexy, perfect for the vocal line, Far is pretty fun, but I don't know if I'll be listening to it too often, Bring the Noize is exactly what it says - noise, rap line focused (reminds me heavily of Mad Dog), Dreamer is adorable and I love it (Road trip has the same positive vibe), Magic Carpet Ride and Promise You are ok. Overall, this album is lighter than Neo Zone and I think I like it a bit more.
I wish SM was still in their retro phase because Breakfast could have been a cute release. But yeah lemonade was the best choice for a title track even if it reminds me a bit of the ketchup song
I came into this expecting nothing; the teasers did absolutely nothing for me. Listening to the album it's one of the better ones they've released in a while. I can imagine myself to this a lot as a bg sound, but I have no favourite so far.
I liked The Rainy Night in an instant bc of Haechan !!! but the song fell flat afterwards. I expected more. I usually root for vocal line.
I don't know what it is that makes people forget? that they're the unit with the noisy title tracks, like since debut. It's not a recent decision for them to pick the weirdest-sounding tracks as the title. In that sense I don't feel surprised they went with Sticker, I'm more surprised at how people still don't expect it? And still wish for SM to change this group's formula.
First listen of the album, Lemonade and Promise You are a snooze. Breakfast, Focus, Far and Magic Carpet Ride are great. Rainy Night is okay, I'm not that fond of it. Dreamer feels out of place even though it's fun. BTN is the worst one lmao. I still prefer Neo Zone the album to this although title track wise Sticker wins.
Their performance on James Corden also made the song better for me! They were a lot more synchronised this time.
The Stick Together video was fun, but it was a little sad hearing them talk about how they haven't had a meal altogether like that in a long time. They're getting busy with their own things now and some of them have probably moved out of the dorms?
Not so sure that any of them moved out since they were pretty evenly split on the 2 floors anyway, but Mark and Haechan were very busy with NCT Dream promotions + Taeyong and Doyoung with a lot of solo stuff (musical, TV shows etc.) and Jaehyun for quite a while with his cancelled drama — this might be part of the reason. Even during their mafia game on vlive they've mentioned they don't get together as often lately due to busy schedules (and that was 2 months ago I think (?).
I honestly don't even think Sticker is that noisy. The instrumental is pretty bare (but not in a bad way, I actually really like the instrumental). I really think the auto-tune on Taeyong's rap is what's throwing people off, because usually he doesn't do that. There are some strange production choices.
yeah lemonade would have been a better noisy title choice even though it doesnt have quite the punch of kick it or cherry bomb it at least sounds like an actual song unlike sticker.
i really like breakfast and bring the noize. far and dreamer are good too and i could see road trip growing on me. the rest are too slow to capture my attention that much on first listen but its a solid album i'm glad i didn't let sticker put me off listening to it.
and also i love sticker im addicted, the only part i didn't like was the autotune at the beginning but it isn't there during the performance version so i might youtube to mp3 that. lemonade is great and all but it's also a song anyone could have done
the auto tune at the beginning of sticker annoys me esp since taeyong doesn’t get that many lines after that opening but at least it dropped off quickly and it’s good to hear the performances leave it out
i also love sticker lmfao, it’s exactly what i wanted after a summer of a bunch of boring chill songs tbh
excited to listen, going to see if i can find a physical version this morning so i can listen to it on a long drive i have today. of the track videos they released lemonade was the only one that i revisited but i think i’ll like the more boring songs in the context of the album more lol.
Sticker: It's begrudgingly growing on me. 3/5 Lemonade: This would have been my pick as the title track, but I see why the former was picked. 4/5 Breakfast: An absolute bop. 4/5 Focus: This is smooth as hell. 3/5 The Rainy Night: It's really pretty, I wish it was a bit more dynamic. 3/5 Far: Back to the bops. I really like this one. 4/5 Bring the Noize: Well it certainly brings the noise, that's for sure. 1/5 Magic Carpet Ride: Definitely not what I expected from the title (that's for the best). I think this is what I expected "The Rainy Night" to sound like. 3/5 Road Trip: It's... cute. 2/5 Dreamer: This one is sonically out of place, it's cute too. 2/5 Promise You: Quite effervescent, perfect album closer. 4/5
Total: 3/5
It's ultimately a decent album bogged down by a few stinkers.
sticker has the same issue with next level where the verses fall flat. lemonade- i remember liking it. breakfast could literally be an exo b-side. loving focus and the rainy night and thats all i got.
Sticker is not nearly as noisy as people in the MV post say imho. Bring The Noize is certainly noisier, I couldn't finish it. I prefer Lemonade to Sticker, although Lemonade's chorus still sounds like a lesser version of P1Harmony's Nemonade. I like Breakfast, Focus and Dreamer. Neo Zone certainly had a lot more songs that grabbed me than this album.
