Afterschool Lizzy (Park Soo-young)'s apology comments are causing anger among netizens.

On the morning of 14th, Lizzy conducted a live broadcast on Instagram and apologized in tears over drunk driving accident. She stated, "I'm sorry for disappointing you. I wanted to write it [the apology] but I couldn't get myself to write anything down. Now my life is over. It's true that I let you down."

"But the victim wasn't hurt that much and the articles still came out like that. Now people are telling me to die. I'm having a difficult time."

"There are so many people talking about making an extreme choice (suicide). I was very wrong, I'm sorry. I'm really regretful about what I did. I know I was wrong so I tried not to do any live broadcasts."

After the broadcast ended, netizens criticized Lizzy for her comments writing, "Why are you talking about the victim when you're the one that made a mistake?" "Is the problem the extent of his injuries?" "Drunk driving in itself is attempted murder" "Did you think since the driver (victim) wasn't seriously injured your faults decrease?" "Is that it?"

Not only that, but a series of comments saying "her apology lacks sincerity" are getting shared in online communities after the live broadcast.

Meanwhile, Lizzy collided with a taxi near the intersection at the southern end of Yeongdongdaegyo Bridge in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam around 10:12 pm on May 18th. At the time, her blood alcohol level exceeded .08%, which was at the level of license cancellation.

Lizzy admitted to the drunk driving and the driver was revealed to have received minor injuries.

Her first trial is scheduled for the 27th.

That's not a good apology.
I sympathize with her facing such a wave of harrassement online. No matter what happened, it's still a form of abuse. I hope her company can take legal action against the netizens harrassing her, and I hope she can take a break from social medias. Ffs netizens, let justice handle it.
What she did was still incredibly dangerous and selfish, and a trial is absolutely necessary. She was drunk and driving. It's a good thing that the injuries were only minor, but it could still have been much worse. She shouldn't try to downplay her own decisions and actions because the consequences "weren't that bad". That's more than just being wrong!!!

Will she be served though? I don't know if it's just because it's mostly men but drunk driving doesn't seem to be penalized too much for celebs

Oh I don't think she'll be getting much, as previous examples show. Maybe a fine and a driving ban? But I think it's important that there's a trial. Hopefully she can realize how dangerous she was being and make changes in her life. I don't want her to go back drunk on the road and kill someone or herself :(

"But the victim wasn't hurt that much[...]"

girl that's beside the point!! they could've had a small scrape; doesn't change the fact that it's still drunk driving.

i don't like people who drive drunk, and i certainly don't like how she seems to be downplaying what happened, but i don't condone people sending her death threats/telling her to kill herself. that doesn't help.

The incident was in May and she only managed to apologize now because her trial starts in 2 weeks. Lol. Don't apologize if you're not sincere.

“Now my life is over”

Hun, someone else’s life could have literally been over.
Even if he wasn’t hurt “that much” there could be long lasting effects, could affect his mental health — really NAGL

Echoing everyone else that she fucked up and this was a shitty apology, esp weeks before her trial. However, there’s always a part of me that wonders if this is one of those cases where Korea loves to kick a woman (esp a celebrity) that’s already down bc they hate women so much over there. Harassment is still harassment. But she definitely fucked up.

An apology where you centre yourself and your feelings and your experiences is not a true apology

Jesus it may be rote but bland written PR statements are SOP for a reason. Why would she think doing this live was a good idea? Like did she think people would feel bad for her if they saw her crying on instagram? And wtf you don’t get credit for not maiming your victim more seriously, it was dumb luck she didn't kill anyone and no one had to get hurt at all if she wasn't such a selfish idiot.

I feel like so many celebs would benefit from taking themselves as offline as possible when they’re struggling, even in circumstances like this, but it seems like a lot of them don’t know how to exist without public attention. All she ended up doing was making things worse for herself.

She's digging a hole for herself. She should be thankful the victim has minor injuries, otherwise she'd be in a lot more trouble

lizzie, girl, no.
netizens need to understand that you can be critical of someone without wishing death on them

you are definitely not sorry. like sure the netizens haven't been nice to her, but it's not like she didn't do something wrong. repent in a better way and not something opportunistic
