I'm still not too sure who is who but just watched the Missing You videos and lots of the girls have a lovely tone. Interestingly I noticed Yurina is the only one that doesn't sing solo, whenever she is singing there is always someone accompanying her or doing adlibs so I feel like I don't know what her voice actually sounds like. I wonder if this was deliberate.

Okay after checking out the performances

My ranking would be

With No excuses I just really did not like the styling and the choreo there was a lot of butts in the air and it felt a bit emptier with only three members compared to Ice Cream.

I've never heard the song We Are before but it is a bit more up my street, the rapping sounded decent and this group of three just had a better vibe or didn't make me feel uneasy like No excuses anyhow..

another avengers team in this round, damn if they don't win it'll be a disappointment. Yeseo was so cute. I went back to look at Busters' posts here and I can't believe the company gave her such a concept at a young age. Yujin was adorable too, she's pretty lucky to have good teams chosen also. So glad she's not doing strong concepts again. I had goosebumps watching the team selections at the start.

the last few cells were sad though, like they couldn't choose what they were good in. Bora and Hyerim vocalists who couldn't do any vocal performances, they probably won't get through the next round. but at least Bora had the chance to sing in the group. Bora's team was pretty solid, it reminded me of the Soyeon x Yaebin rap team in P101.

realised Mashiro is the ex JYPE trainee, and doing an Itzy song makes for good storyline. I hope she gets through.

No Excuses dance team didn't have much dance moves and it wasn't too clean though. the moves didn't vibe with the song. kudos on the girls improving their expressions though

Yurina chose the wrong song though. she fits bright concepts like her audition so she should have chosen a different song instead. but I guess if she bounces back for the next evaluation it'll be good progression for her. Reina and Lee Hye Won have potential, the group did well, probably the best this episode. the 6 membered fight is gonna be tough

Woo Won Jae and Tiffany interactions make me think about when Tiffany was rumoured with Gray, wonder if there's really a friendship/connection hmm. oof at Tiffany stumbling when talking about a 9 membered group.

the dance masters are much nicer than the vocal masters in terms of their comments/critiques I feel, which helps a lot of the young girls there.

Well done to Bora’s team!!! They did really well. It’s nice to see some of the teamwork. Bora, Yujin and the girl who led the Ice Cream team seemed to really support their team which is lovely ❤️

I wonder how Yurina will do after the first round of eliminations… I get the feeling she only ranked so high because she’s got a pretty face and stood out in a sea of 99 gals due to this, but now it’s a bit easier to recognise the talent.

i loved the missing you performance

as purely dance performances, both ice cream and no excuses were really just...there. comparing the bang bang performance from p101 to this ice cream performance, this really lacked on every front - dancing, choreography, filming.

i started watching street woman fighter instead and that show is a lot more entertaining!

How bitchy does it get? I've seen clips and I wasn't sure I was going to be into watching women tear each other down for entertainment

ngl it is a little bitchy, but mostly bc of mnet's editing. i would say the first episode is as bad as it gets - and there's only one team that to me is bitchy without really bringing anything else to the table. i would say as a whole, they're less bitchy and more confident about their abilities and their experience. one's a professor, one has choreographed a lot of famous choreos like wannabe, feel special etc. and she's only 23, one represented korea on the olympics team so i feel like they've earned the right to be cocky about themselves!

bc it's a pretty small industry, most of the women have worked with each other in some capacity or are even friends outside of the shows so you can tell they all respect each other's work (except for chaeyeon, but even then, it's not like anyone's outright mean to her imo? - mnet puts a lot of screentime on her crying after losing battles but all the women were asked which dancer they didn't respect before the show and a lot of them chose her for obvious reasons - and so they have to battle her. some of her fans feel like she's being targeted and, while i feel bad for her, it's obvious she's out of her depth here)

i would say give the first episode a try and see how you find it! part of the reason i prefer it to gp999 is bc they all have their own careers and it's not like they're trying to please an audience in order to debut. no high stakes, just women dancing and being good at their jobs! my only issue with the show is that i dislike the judges!

I watched the episode and it's really sad how all the other girls in Yurina's team was better than her but none of them were spotlighted or had their story told, the way hers was, and it was such a weakass redemption narrative.

Anyways lots of interesting performances ahead for next episode. I am wondering if the confidence of the Chinese girls will pay off.

I know last time I mentioned I was admitted with the breaking up of the cells.. but the competition format is interesting, I do wonder if it pays off for the girls who decided to join the big group.
